Not bad for about €3800. Apparently good enough for making the Blockhouse pattern.

3800 Euros won't get you the box. $6599.00 plus accessories. I thought Leica accessories were high until I saw Bernina.

Ok... Our boat was 15K$. I can't make money with it. With Leica lens or this Zinger 2000 I can. At least theoretically. :D

Boats, unless charter or fishing guide stuff are sinkholes for money. There is an old saying that the best two days you own a boat are the day you get it and the day you sell it.

Vive la différence!

3.8k seems to be the retail price in Switzerland for the 770QE.

Berninas are nice. My mom kept a roof over our heads for years with just one of these. Fully manual, didn't even have a meter, although she had a degree in garment design:

It's nice to have some things because you want them and not just because you need them,

Bernina is what you console your spouse with as you buy the newest Leica jewels ....

And the output from the machine may be around longer than all our fora posts.

My grandmother on mother's side was a seamstress. (Do they even use that word today?). I was there when Grandpa gave her a motorized Singer. He was so proud. I was far to young to understand the exchange, but I know it took Grandma a couple of months to relegate the pedal version to the basement. Grandma taught my mother how to make clothes, for which we were all grateful for in our youth.

An aside  which perhaps I mentioned long ago - in our little local pub of labor workers the subject of home made clothes arose and to my surprise four of the fifteen patrons, all men, said they had sewing machines and made or repaired their clothes. One of them makes trousers with built-in knee pads. He is popular for that.

Oh and the UK price is £2995.  Pretty reasonable I think for what it can do and the build quality.  Pete, I'm reliably informed that the 880 is "more of an embroidery machine" . It has  a lot more bells and whistles than the 770.

True, I have a wooden sail boat for sale since two years...
