Advertisement Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Hi jaques, Take a look here Zeiss to Produce Biotar 75mm f/1.5 M Lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
happymac Posted August 13, 2017 Share #22  Posted August 13, 2017 Thank you! – very interesting.  Hopefully they create a resourrected lens, which has the character of a Summilux-M 75, but not the focus shift of the Leica lens.
padam Posted August 16, 2017 Share #23 Â Posted August 16, 2017 It is almost exactly the same as the original Biotar lens except for the rangefinder coupling, but the build quality is unknown. So it's really nothing like a Summilux 75.
stevesurf Posted August 17, 2017 Share #24 Â Posted August 17, 2017 For the fans of swirly and soap bubble bokeh, it's hard to beat Meyer Optik products, unless of course you are blessed to own one of the lenses that are used in the "View through older glass" threads. Â The only drawback is if this lens is not coupled.
padam Posted August 23, 2017 Share #25 Â Posted August 23, 2017 It will be, but it probably won't be that useful for several reasons. -It has field curvature, focus and recompose technique is very difficult (it is a challenge with any fast telephoto anyway) -It is only sharp in the central area at f1.5, the area gradually increases when stepping down. Without live-view it is difficult to see where the subject (or his/her eye) moves out of this and becomes softer even when its in focus.
jaques Posted August 24, 2017 Share #26  Posted August 24, 2017 it's true that it's a tough lens to focus at 1.5- at least my 60 year old one is- even with live view. But it does have a very unique look:  Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted August 30, 2017 Share #27  Posted August 30, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I could be interested as it is a lot more compact and lighter than my Summarex 85/f1.5 but seemingly, with similar rendition. I could then sell my Summarit 75/f2.5 as I don't do technical photography any more and that is all I ever used that lens for. I never was taken with its rendition for regular photography, where it tended to flatten everything somewhat.  Wilson
lct Posted August 30, 2017 Share #28 Â Posted August 30, 2017 One has to like swirly bokeh i guess. Is it still visible around f/2.8? Just curious.
wlaidlaw Posted August 30, 2017 Share #29  Posted August 30, 2017 It is not as swirly as either my 5cm/f1.5 LTM Summarit or the 8.5cm/f1.5 LTM Summarex.  Wilson
