enboe Posted July 18, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 18, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) So, I heard back from good old Leica, and at the 8 week in point, they are estimating another 17 weeks to replace my sensor. Anyone else get an estimate longer than 25 weeks? Eric
Advertisement Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Hi enboe, Take a look here Estimated Time to Repair 25 weeks, beat that!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
david strachan Posted July 18, 2017 Share #2 Posted July 18, 2017 Bad luck Eric. We just have to accept it...no point in the grizzles on the Forum. Do you have another system to use? It'll come back overhauled and you won't have to worry about it for a long time. ...
MarkP Posted July 18, 2017 Share #3 Posted July 18, 2017 Assuming it comes back in full working order. My MATE was with Leica Solms for 9 months! The benefit of being a pessimist is that one is never disappointed ;-)
jip Posted July 18, 2017 Share #4 Posted July 18, 2017 I shipped an M9 a few weeks ago, took a while to get the 'estimate' but as soon as I gave my payment details for the CLA (on top of the free sensor replacement) they said it would be ready in 6 weeks... and 10 days time for my Leica S-E that is also in Wetzlar for repairs... enboe Posted August 1, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted August 1, 2017 Honest update, the two color CCD cameras I dropped off are ready for me to pick up, 10 weeks + 1 day. I will update again when the Monochroms return. Eric
TRIago Posted August 2, 2017 Share #6 Posted August 2, 2017 My M9 was ready in 6 weeks. I sent it in 13/08/2015. CLA and sensor replacement, all good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
lucerne Posted August 3, 2017 Share #7 Posted August 3, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I now have had the assessment and invoice for free sensor replacement plus an optional CLA which has to be paid for. Estimated time for the work is 6 weeks. A-la-carte recovering is also offered at a special price of 100 euros plus VAT. Prices will rise after 15th August so there is still time to get M9s to Wetzlar.
Greenacres Posted August 3, 2017 Share #8 Posted August 3, 2017 My low mileage M9 was sent to Wetzlar yesterday following the discovery of sensor corrosion, so I hope it will be a quicker turnaround than 25 weeks! I also have an M2 and an M240, but much prefer the M9.

I also have an M2 and an M240, but much prefer the M9.As I mentioned in my previous post today , Once in Wetzlar and the estimate accepted, Wetzlar are currently informing owners that the repair time is approximately 6 weeks. This is calendar week 31, so expect your camera back this year and not week 56 which - of course - would be end of January 2018. mujk Posted August 7, 2017 Share #10 Posted August 7, 2017 I got my M9 back today, after 9 weeks. It was sent in through the local distributor, so I never got an estimate from Leica. According to the papers the sensor was replaced, so I guess it was corrosion after all. In addition, the rangefinder was cleaned and adjusted, some unspecified cleaning and adjustments were done and the leatherette was replaced (of course). Everything seems to be in fine shape, though I miss the old "Vulcanite" a little. markus

But I didn't get any notification. Can I assume the job is done? Or they just decided the censor doesn't need to be replaced? To Markus: I would like to know whether you got any update when your camera was at their hands. Thanks in advance! Wei
Hallstein Posted August 17, 2017 Share #12 Posted August 17, 2017 Camera recieved at leica wetzlar 22. June. Camera is repaired and they are preparing shipping and customs documents at the 15.th of August. Total repair time was just short of 8 weeks. Just like they promised. lucerne Posted August 18, 2017 Share #13 Posted August 18, 2017 Camera collected from UK 17th July and is being delivered to my home on Friday 18th August. Sensor and (paid for) CLS. 5 weeks. I'll be very satisfied if (after a quick check) this is the end of the saga.

To Markus: I would like to know whether you got any update when your camera was at their hands. Thanks in advance! Wei No, I didn't get any notifications from Wetzlar, but I assume this was because it was sent and returned through the local distributor in Finland (Foka Oy - we don't have a Leica-owned store here) and I assume all notifications went to them. So the only notification I got was from the distributor when it was ready to be picked up. Of course, they would have had to contact me for my approval if there had been any costs involved. markus
