pico Posted July 14, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 14, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have an industry standard shade and filter holder for Series VIII (8). Leica's filter is marked VIII/IV. So a notice - when Leica gives two measurements, presume the larger, in this case IV (9). It certainly does not fit VIII (8). It should work if I remove the metal rim. Going into the shop to do that now. If you don't have the resources to do the same, do not make my mistake. pico Posted July 14, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted July 14, 2017 Thank you Soden! I hate it when I mess up like that. Gosh, is my face red! The filter is in fact marked VIII/IX meaning series 8 or 9, but it only works in a series 9 holder. I have a good spanner which should release the glass from the rim. Maybe a cup of coffee first. Thanks again Soden on behalf of the rest of us.

Michael Geschlecht Posted July 15, 2017 Share #5 Posted July 15, 2017 Hello Everybody, That MIGHT also be a way of writing 8.5. Some Leitz lenses were built to take Series size 8.5 filters. Such as the 21mm, F4 Super Angulon for the Leicaflex SL Best Regards, Michael

tobey bilek Posted July 18, 2017 Share #8 Posted July 18, 2017 No problem, in the US Roman numerals are no longer taught, so like the rest of Leicaese, we should be clear on what we are talking about. Whole host of things no longer taught. Government has messed up education to a terrible degree. All our local teachers and mad as hell and are forced to teach to mandated tests with no time for anything else. School has become an indoctrination program for liberalism up through most colleges. My spouse quit after 35 years because of the downhill slide. In fact Illinois is in the sewer with junk bond status. Same problem. Kids in eighth grade can not even sign their name as cursive is gone. How they sign a credit card check or mortgage is beyond me. Wonder if their probation papers can use an X. The parents who care and can afford it send kids to private school.
jdlaing Posted July 18, 2017 Share #9 Posted July 18, 2017 Hogwash. Parents and people and teachers are to blame for the state of education. What do you think the Givernment is made of? Machines? People let it happen. Serves them right.
