stephen.w Posted July 11, 2017 Share #61 Posted July 11, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) They don't even have the typ 262 cameras listed, and I've been dropping M-D files into Photos for a year. I'll have to send my friends at Apple a funny note. The files are identical to M240 files, no? well I spent hours, ( yes really, hours ), on Adobe's less than transparent website trying to figure out where the hell I could get an update for my Lightroom 6.0 stand alone application which is the one I signed up for for free when I got a M240, but it was all a complete waste of time and energy the net result being that I ended up still with Version 6.0 and a deep loathing for Adobe. I guess, but I don't know for sure, that I would get LR6 version 6.10.1 if I signed up for the LR yearly/monthly subscription plan but I dislike subscription plans and don't want to join one the effort involved in getting an up-to-date stand-alone plan seems to be designed solely to force you into giving up on it and going the subscription route...........So even though I do like LR I guess I'm at an impasse if I want or need to upgrade for any reason. I have Affinity and like the interface quite a lot, but learning another application when I am quite content with the current one is a real pain and absorbs so much time and evaporating even more brain pixels. Has anyone out there tried Affinity and if so how does it work for you? I had similar difficulties. What eventually worked for me was running the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool (see https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html). I then reinstalled LR6 and successfully updated to ver. 6.10.
Advertisement Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 Hi stephen.w, Take a look here Want to Dump Lightroom But No M10 Raw Support for Apple's Photos App. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

What eventually worked for me was running the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool (see https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html). I then reinstalled LR6 and successfully updated to ver. 6.10.1 On my older (2006) iMac, when that was one of my two installs for CC, every time there was an update for the CC desktop, I had to use CC Cleaner Tool to remove the existing before installing the new. I eventually got bored with doing that and switched the second install to my 2011 Mac Mini, where updates worked as they should. I think you still have to go to the trial page of Adobe to find the stand alone version of LR. The only difference between the limited period trial and full version is a valid serial number. I have given away all my LR6 serial numbers that came with various Leica cameras to other forum members or I would offer them here. I see Leica now give a limited period off of a free CC install instead of LR. Good business for Adobe, bad for Leica buyers who just want LR. pnoble Posted July 11, 2017 Author Share #65 Posted July 11, 2017 For those interested in migrating from LR to Photos, I have imported all my LR DNG's into Photos. Most photos have already propagated through iCloud to my other (iOS) devices where they are viewable as thumbnails and can be downloaded as full res 'optimized' JPEGs. Here is an Apple article on how Photos and iCloud Photo Library handle RAW images: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204977, for anyone interested. I have 2T of iCloud storage ($9.99 a month) which is more than enough for now and I'm guessing that Apple will continue to expand the storage space allowance as they have consistently in the past. (Incidentally for those with Family Sharing, starting with High Sierra and iOS 11, all family members can share the same storage. No more multiple charges.) If you want to keep originals on your Mac you need to set this preference at Photos > Preferences > iCloud > Download Originals on This Mac. Not withstanding the maybe overconfidence I have in the robustness of iCloud, I have FiOS 150/150 service, with 950/950 a $20 a month option, so access for editing is a non-issue regardless. So for me, mission accomplished!
rodders Posted July 16, 2017 Share #66 Posted July 16, 2017 Since April 1, 2016. Jefff So does the M10 come with free CC and for how long? Trying to work out whether I better off just downloading and paying for LR CC or wait until I finally get my hands on an M10 . If it is a pain to transfer pics from the trial to full, may be better off just buying now and play around with it.

The trial version is a full working version that only needs to be activated by a serial number to become completely operational.

Chuck Albertson Posted July 19, 2017 Share #70 Posted July 19, 2017 Jeff's got it. A few months ago, Adobe installed a stand-alone "application manager" to handle updates for all their products on your machine (stand-alone LR, Acrobat, etc.). When I click on "updates" in the Help menu for LR, it launches the application manager - I've been clicking on that a lot, waiting for them to fix the Map "offline" bug. Updating my own post - yesterday, the Application Manager "updated" itself to a CC subscription manager, so I uninstalled it. Updated LR to the newest version (6.12) by clicking on "Updates" in the Help menu, which went fine. They seem to have fixed that bug in the Map module that kept taking the map offline whenever you moved the location or tinkered with the magnification.
