zakzavada Posted June 26, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 26, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone have any info or experience with a Metz M400 flash? It says that it is compatible with Leica TTL. Looks similar in size to the nissin i40/leica sf40 http://www.metz-mecatech.de/en/lighting/flash-units/system-flash-units/mecablitz-m400/data-sheet/mecablitz-m400-olympuspanasonicleica.html
Advertisement Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 Hi zakzavada, Take a look here Metz flash? . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Lins-Barroso Posted June 28, 2017 Share #2 Posted June 28, 2017 I am looking of the same answer!
jaapv Posted June 28, 2017 Share #3 Posted June 28, 2017 Maybe. It does not state Leica Q specifically, and the addition of Olympus and Panasonic suggests compatability with the Dlux and Vlux cameras. It would certainly not be compatible with M or SL, for instance. You will have to ask Leica and/or Metz.
Herve5 Posted June 28, 2017 Share #4 Posted June 28, 2017 won't work. See the quotation from Metz themselves around the middle of this thread
jaapv Posted June 29, 2017 Share #5 Posted June 29, 2017 Thanks. Probably best to quote the post you refer to: On my asking directly to Metz, received following replay. "Please be informed that there are 2 completely different Leica flash control systems which are absolutely not compatible to each other. For Leica digital cameras of M series, T series, X series and also the new Q series only the Leica branded flash unit 'Leica SF-26' is compatible. The Metz branded version of mecablitz 26 AF-1 digital (Olympus / Panasonic / Leica version) is NOT compatible with the new digital camera Leica Q." pgeobc Posted June 30, 2017 Share #6 Posted June 30, 2017 I'm going to give you a qualified "yes." I have a large Metz side-handle type that takes the Metz adapter mentioned in the Q instruction manual. I also have a smaller Metz that takes the adapter. Both worked on my X-1. So, Metz has Leica's requirements. I have not tried them on my Q, but Leia says they'll wok.
leicapages Posted June 30, 2017 Share #7 Posted June 30, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Interesting. So the SF-26 will work but what with the older SF-20?
jaapv Posted January 18, 2018 Share #8 Posted January 18, 2018 Automatic/manual only, like any other vintage flash.
