pico Posted April 3, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 3, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) The M10 is the most rational development of Leicas. Those who wish to have video, etc have their models. Be still or move on to the appropriate platform. The 10 follows logically from the M9. Regarding the development of the M10 I can imagine, but do not care for greater pixel-count. I look to the M9 forward to M10 and forward again in a rational development vector to an M11 - excluding video. The M is a still artist's camera. Oh, an M still camera with image stabilization is an interesting thought.

LocalHero1953 Posted April 3, 2017 Share #2 Posted April 3, 2017 I'm going to play Wind Up Bingo for this thread: counting all the phrases designed to cause an argument while remaining superficially polite. - if you want video get the SL - .....get over it - Well, dude........ - I wish you all the best in your [sony/Nikon/Canon] future - people only think they want more pixels - working pros need........ Any more to add?
lct Posted April 3, 2017 Share #3 Posted April 3, 2017 [...] Oh, an M still camera with image stabilization is an interesting thought. Ouch! Too modern that. Why not a fast EVF and a silent shutter while we are at that? Tsss i did not need those gadgets with my M3 .

Using a tripod is bad enough... All this stuff is only useful for lens testing
garygraphy Posted April 4, 2017 Share #5 Posted April 4, 2017 I remember reading somewhere that image stabilization sacrifices image quality but I do not know any details behind that reasoning. Edit: referring to sensor based image stabilization

Viv1857 Posted April 4, 2017 Share #8 Posted April 4, 2017 Because this is a Leica forum, everything is so always so subtle and I struggle greatly to work out whether I'm reading snarky sarcasm or sincere commentary. In any case, I for one would really appreciate a silent shutter and stabilisation. My understanding of the Leica development ethos is that it is less about retaining anachronisms and more about allowing us to use fabulous glass in a discrete manner. otto.f Posted April 4, 2017 Share #9 Posted April 4, 2017 It doesn't wake up as soon as an M9 though and I had already moments in 2 months time that it bothered me. Really have to adapt my working style here, keeping it on for instance, which costs battery life noticeably.
olgierdc Posted April 4, 2017 Share #10 Posted April 4, 2017 I would like the next camera to be, for example, carbon fiber or lithium alloy with a weight of no more than 350 grams. The most important feature is the ability to change the color of the camera depending on the color of the environment so that the camera becomes invisible. Another important feature to implement is the solar battery so you do not have to recharge the batteries.

One can always dream but we won't see this in the foreseeable future i'm afraid. What you call anachronism is what Leica seems to call "das Wesentliche" and some colleagues here "rationality". Guest Posted April 4, 2017 Share #15 Posted April 4, 2017 I would like the ability to send my pictures to my computer rather than a pesky Iphone via WiFi. It is OK to dump the USB port and therefore cable connections, but then not to be able to connect and drag and drop the files from the sd card a folder on the Mac is annoying to be polite. chris_tribble Posted April 4, 2017 Share #16 Posted April 4, 2017 Taking an SD card out of the camera doesn't really worry me. I think in general the M10 IS pretty well everything I've ever wanted from a digital M camera. So long as we're "constrained" by the mount and are willing to live with manual focus and no electronic linkage between lens and body, there's little nothing I feel in need of. The long term strategy might be to put money into lenses rather than bodies - I rather like the idea of the FLE 35 summilux, and also the 75 Apo. Maybe even the 50 apo and the new 28 summicron. And that's my kit budget committed for several years ahead!

I used the USB port only a handful of times in the past 10 years with 5 different M bodies. What is so difficult about using the SD card to do this? Once you create a workflow it takes no more or less time than using a USB cable. Now having a USB for tethering is a completely different story. Guest )-( Posted April 4, 2017 Share #18 Posted April 4, 2017 I like taking the baseplate off, taking the SD card out, put it in my computer, seems pretty easy. But then I prefer the M3 style rewind to (horrible, angled ) M4 style, maybe I like a little extra work to get the little pictures out.
Herr Barnack Posted April 5, 2017 Share #19 Posted April 5, 2017 Silent shutter? Yes. Image stabilization? No thanks. Video capability? I have it in my Safari M-P and I don't want it. It is a totally useless "feature" in an M camera IMHO. The M is a still artist's camera. Hear, hear. May it always be so.
