pemayeux Posted June 20, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) One of the camera shops I frequent has a new LHSA M6 .085 that has been on the shelf for years. The price is about $500 less than a new M7 or MP. Does anyone know anything about these? I'm tempted to snatch it up and use it with my 50 and 75 luxs. Advertisement Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Hi pemayeux, Take a look here Black Paint LHSA M6. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ddp Posted June 20, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 20, 2007 Paul...check out this link: Leica M6 LHSA Black Paint Looks like 500 were made in .85. Leica also made 3 black paint lenses to go along with this model I believe - a 35 'Cron, 50 ' Lux (pre-asph) and a 90 ' Cron. Personally, I'm partial to black paint...and to using "collectibles" I say go for it....
pemayeux Posted June 20, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted June 20, 2007 Thanks Dan - I think I'll go ahead and get it. I'm partial to black paint as well and I'll definitely use it.
ddp Posted June 20, 2007 Share #4 Posted June 20, 2007 Nice! I think this is a nice version of the M6, especially the black dot! And some other links I found: http://nemeng.com/leica/binz/lhsa_m6se.pdf Leica FAQ - What is the LHSA M6?
luigi bertolotti Posted June 20, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 20, 2007 BUY IT, no doubt, and make what you like of it: personally, I would prefer to USE... wonderful camera; and if I would nothwistanding put myself in a strict speculative collector's mind... I think it's not its destiny to become a real serious collector's item (i.e. one with a great future value)... not a rare machine in itself... simply a special model of an excellent standard camera... they made numbers of these specials... in a not-so-good moment for Leica Co. they thought could be a way to maintain alive a certain market: not an appreciable move, in my opinion. querstrommotor Posted June 21, 2007 Share #6 Posted June 21, 2007 Hello to you all, I bought exactly this model a couple of weeks ago at Leica Berlin in brad new condition with original box and papers. I tried to find a used black paint MP as a second analog M body, but what i found was all pretty expensive. My main wish was a black paint body without the extraordenary price tag of the classic m3 and m2 - so Leica Berlin gave me the M6 TTL LHSA - and for me it is a perfect cam. As i am not such a big fan of the MP rewind knob and the small speed dial, i am absolutely stisfied with the LHSA TTL. I added a used LHSA MP Leicavit to the body, wich has the beautyful engraving "Leicavit" and today i changed the lever to the m3 style lever also in black paint. I think she is now a real beauty and a fantastic camera - so i am also a user not a collector. If you want to have the same outfit as the LHSA M6 TTL with a brad new cam, you have to order a MP a la carte - and it is much more expensive and you never will get the big speed dial and the TTL system(by the way i do not use a flash with the m cams...) and the meter displayed in the right way (what ever that means;-))). So, go for it and you will get an amazing pice of a classic m..... Greetings Ekki
pemayeux Posted June 21, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted June 21, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I went for it. And not a moment too soon. Someone was looking at it when I arrived at the shop. Strange coincidence that the camera sits on the self since 2001 and then two people want it at the same time 6 years later. So now all I need is for Solms to send me my 50/1.4 and 75/1.4 which have been in for service since March.
ddp Posted June 22, 2007 Share #8 Posted June 22, 2007 Awesome! You're going to have post some photos of it of course...don't think I've ever seen one in person.
Sandokan Posted June 22, 2007 Share #9 Posted June 22, 2007 Welcome to the club. I got mine (0.85x viewfinder) from NY last year. I also have the 1.25x eyepiece and with the 75 summicron there is so much detail to see.
earleygallery Posted June 22, 2007 Share #10 Posted June 22, 2007 I went for it. And not a moment too soon. Someone was looking at it when I arrived at the shop. Strange coincidence that the camera sits on the self since 2001 and then two people want it at the same time 6 years later. Always the way, I was looking at an M6 in a local shop window, sat there for many months reducing in price gradually. I kind of decided to go for it - I went down to the shop credit card in pocket ready to be persuaded by the salesman to buy it (I just needed a little coaxing, maybe a little off the price or something) but when I got there it had just been sold that moment! Stevez4 Posted June 22, 2007 Share #11 Posted June 22, 2007 I have the LHSA coded 50 lux lens for that M6. It is incredible. One of the only three lenses I own.
pemayeux Posted June 22, 2007 Author Share #12 Posted June 22, 2007 Hey Dan - I'll post a pic when I get home tonight. It's not brochure quality, but you can see the shine of that wonderful black paint. This thing really brings out the fondler in me. Ravi - do you have the Leica 1.25 magnifier? I've been thinking of getting one to go on the M8. I bet it would help with the 75 on this body. Sorry you missed that one James. I've been eyeballing this thing for a couple of months. They had two film bodies left. This one and a M7 .058 in black. I've been going back and forth about which one I wanted. I'd like the .58 to use with my 35, 28 and 21 lenses but this one will do good with my 50 and 75 - the clincher was the black paint. It matches my MP only it doesn't have the wear marks - yet. If the M7 stays much longer I may be tempted to get it - they have it marked down to $2,495. Steve - I am really in love with that LHSA lens you have. I put my MATE on leicamarket.com today - I'm thinking I would like to sell it and get one of those black paint 50s to go on this camera. I have a current 50/lux asph but it has been in Solms now since March being repaired under warranty. Once it comes back, if it is still not right I could just stick with the bp 50/lux though it isn't asph. I guess that is the problem now - I want bp lenses to go with this camera - they'd go with the MP too, but then I'd have some redundant focal lengths. My case is too heavy as it is. fuchs Posted June 23, 2007 Share #14 Posted June 23, 2007 Ohhhhh... That is a gorgeus camera! I hope you sell quickly your MATE on our site, and be able to get the black paint lenses that your camera deserves... Best of lucks, Ed Albesi LM
ddp Posted June 23, 2007 Share #15 Posted June 23, 2007 Paul - thank you. That is indeed a nice find. Beautiful! Good luck with it...I'll be curious to see how you fare looking for a BP 50. Are you looking for a BP asph?
Sandokan Posted June 24, 2007 Share #16 Posted June 24, 2007 Hi Paul, Yes I have the Leica magnifier. It screws in to the eyepiece and sticks out about 0.5cm (maybe a little more) but does not get in the way. I leave it on most of the time as I have the 75mm on this camera and the 35mm on my M7. Ravi PS The camera looks magnificent in your photo
