Advertisement Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Hi Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS, Take a look here Has anyone tried the 50mm APO on the M-10. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Surelythisnameisfree Posted March 29, 2017 Share #42 Posted March 29, 2017 I have just traded a 50mm Summilux for a 50mm APO on the basis that the M10's sensor will more than make up for the slower aperture and I'll have a smaller, lighter and sharper lens. Time will tell if it was worth the price difference!
digitalfx Posted March 29, 2017 Share #43 Posted March 29, 2017 I have just traded a 50mm Summilux for a 50mm APO on the basis that the M10's sensor will more than make up for the slower aperture and I'll have a smaller, lighter and sharper lens. Time will tell if it was worth the price difference! IMO they are completely different lenses with different looks. I had the 50 APO, Noctilux and Summilux until just recently when I wondered why I needed three 50mm lenses After a medical exam showed I had a screw loose, I sold the Summilux. I quickly regretted that decision...I think I will end up buying another one soon.

EoinC Posted March 29, 2017 Share #46 Posted March 29, 2017 nowadays WOW is good On the 'more days, more pays' basis, Neil, but not on a productivity / attract rare capital one... On the M10 / Elmar M, I would definitely say use it before making any decisions on buying an APO. The Elmar M is a fantastic lens, and you alrady have it rolling around your pocket. At some stage you may like to think about whether buying additional 50's is adding anything to your photography, or just diluting your use of what you already have. For a collector, more is better. For a photographer, I tend to think the opposite is often so. YVMV.

For me the Noctilux 0.95 at 1.4 has similar rendering so I've never missed the Summilux. The only big tradeoff is obviously the weight. The 50 APO is there as a more perfect, clinical and compact lens. I love shooting 50mm lenses. All ages, all types. Each has its own look, feel and strengths. Can never have too many lenses! You Very Much Very ?????lol I loved my Noctilux on the M240 just before I got rid of it.................couldn't focus it worth a sh!t at the beginning due to not having the correct diaper on. I also agree that to have two of the same focus length doesn't make sence, but maybe having the Elmer M and the Noctilux would/could make sence if you know what I mean ? Neil I always use the EVF for focusing my Noctilux. Nail focus every time. I figure once you put a huge, heavy lens like that on the compact M240/M10 etc what difference does a small plastic viewfinder make!

I figure once you put a huge, heavy lens like that on the compact M240/M10 etc what difference does a small plastic viewfinder make! the difference has nothing to do with size or weight...its all about speed. I have no issues nailing focus with the rangefinder and its twice as fast. BTW- no diopters and I wear glasses. It just takes some practice. I use the EVF about 25% of the time though with the Noctilux, and will usually switch back and forth leaving the EVF on the camera. But its so much more enjoyable shooting w/o EVF even with improved performance on M10.

I usually shoot quite slow so the EVF speeed is not a huge problem. For speed shooting the rangefinder is much better.

For speed shooting the rangefinder is much better. and by speed I didn't necessarily mean speed its more about the blackout and clunkiness of using the EVF...even with the improvements in the M10, the blackout still interrupts your connection with the subject. Yes I agree the blackout is still there but much better then the M240. Shooting landscape is no problem for me, shooting street photography would be but working on the streets at 0.95 would become an exercise in luck rather than skill ;-)
Neko Posted March 31, 2017 Share #55 Posted March 31, 2017 Hi Neil, The 50 APO is great on the M10. Is very compact and well balanced. The colors are wonderful. I have been using the 35 Lux FLE, the 90 APO and the 50 APO on the M10 so far and the 50 APO is by far my favorite, just in another league. PD, The correct diaper on is mandatory with this lens. tobey bilek Posted April 2, 2017 Share #56 Posted April 2, 2017 Whats a SL2? Well we had a SL, SL2 in late 60`s or early 70`s. My error. Should be SL3. In any case, I did not like it although it was easily the best mirrorless I ever used except Leica M.
