I noticed that when I plug in my SD card, windows 10 don't show the DNG files from my M10, only the JPG. Windows show space being taken up on the SD card, but no DNG files. I assume you don't have Lightroom or Photoshop installed, otherwise this is part of the install. You can download it here: http://supportdownloads.adobe.com/detail.jsp?ftpID=5495 Your best bet is to purchase a program like Lightroom to process your raw files. The M10 comes with a 90 day trial. A search with Google will show who is selling the disc. For long term use owning your own paid for copy is far less expensive than renting Lightroom from Adobe, which is what you are doing by signing up for Lightroom CC. If you do go down the cloud route check what happens if you ever want to stop subscribing. Lightroom never changes your original photos. All adjustments are made to a copy created in Lightroom but I would check what happens if you stop subscribing to Lightroom CC. Do you lose all the adjusted copy photos? I own LR, and prefer this route...but it is not cheaper long term. It costs about the same. And honestly if I didn't own the perpetual license, I would go the subscription route. The only reason I haven't is because Ive owned LR since the very beginning. My upgrades thru the years have about equaled the subscription cost...so don't let the subscription paranoia keep you from going that route. and NO...you don't lose the "adjusted copy photos". The subscription is an excellent option, and with the camera you get the first 3 months free. The subscription is exactly the same as the perpetual license (with the exception of some added features in the subscription version, including LR Mobile for free). So its actually the better deal. LR is very cheap, especially relative to the cost of the camera. Its cost IMO is a must...it is (again IMO) the best tool available for managing and processing your images. Think of it as your digital darkroom...and its very simple to use. Both of my kids have subscriptions and learned the software when they were very young, its that easy. How does Light room compare to Dxo? I have the light room free trial with the camera, but I don't want to start it yet because I'm travelling next 7 weeks and won't be able to use it. how come the dng files don't even show up on Windows file explorer? An app that works with my files in my folders without importing everything into a proprietary catalogue. I often work with 2 or 3 photos, save them into the directory on our server and have our staff use them as background for photoshopping our building on or uploading to our web. With Lightroom and capture one, I found it clumsy to find and import files although exporting them was fine. This software looks very good. I'll give it a test drive and report back. If you want to know why Windows no longer installs this by default, you will need to ask Microsoft.
