Gregm61 Posted March 2, 2017 Share #6 Posted March 2, 2017 The one on the left, made in Korea, is what came with my M262 when I bought it new from Tamarkin in February, 2016, and it's the same one B&H just sold me.

lucerne Posted March 2, 2017 Share #8 Posted March 2, 2017 The one on the left (manufactured in Korea) matches my only battery which was supplied to a Munich dealer in January 2014. The other battery is the also the correct battery and has been subcontracted to Varta. Usually the reason is that in other regions of the world, particular approvals and label markings are legally required. Notice that the right hand version has at least one approval code (R-41040053) that doesn't appear on the left hand model. All the above doesn't mean that the model originally supplied with your camera can be assumed to be the LH model although Jaap reports that he received the RH model in his kit at the beginning. It depends on where Leica intended the camera to be distributed. I also remember that there was a shortage of spare batteries at launch. (As usual). However, the left hand battery is clearly older and the case shows the signs of use. Isn't that your original? I don't know of any supplier of Chinese cloned batteries for the M240. Hence the consistently high prices.

lucerne Posted March 2, 2017 Share #10 Posted March 2, 2017 Notice the "inca" trade mark on the bottom image in the previous post. That's a manufacturers trade mark not present on every battery. I'm sure they are subcontracting manufacturing for Leica. It's definitely not present on every battery- mine included.

lct Posted March 2, 2017 Share #12 Posted March 2, 2017 I even didn't noticed that the one on the left was a little scratched! [...] It is an early one from October 2012 apparently. "4112" on the back means week 41, year 2012 IINW.

Steve Ricoh Posted March 3, 2017 Share #14 Posted March 3, 2017 The date code can be seen on the end of the battery on some batteries. Both of mine are marked that way.
edw Posted March 6, 2017 Share #15 Posted March 6, 2017 I letter every battery I purchase—as well as many SD cards—with a paint marker in order to simplify rotation of them. I have three batteries each for my M-D and Q and I make an effort to make sure they all get use. Perhaps a bit anal bit also perhaps useful.
GRBrown Posted March 8, 2017 Share #16 Posted March 8, 2017 I use a silver metallic Sharpie permanent marker to label which battery goes in which camera, as well as a number, so that the batteries can be rotated. For example: M240 #1.
