wattsy Posted February 28, 2017 Share #2  Posted February 28, 2017 They occasionally pop up in the various classifieds but I don't think you'll find a new one anywhere now. It's a nice lens. I bought one new around the time the M8 was released. I wouldn't have chosen black paint other than it was being sold at a discount to the regular Summicron.  I stupidly sold it during the boom period (2011?) when lens prices reached silly levels. Around 2015 I started looking for another and considered buying a new in box example from an Ebay seller in Hong Kong but decided it was too expensive (I think it worked out nearly £3000). Is the latter aluminum construction vs chrome?   The black chrome edition is brass (like the silver chrome and black paint) and heavier than the standard black version which is anodised aluminium. However, it is noticeably heavier and, if I was buying a Summicron afresh, I would probably go with the regular aluminium version. Now I don't have one, all are sold.  Just for fun, I weighted them without hood or caps : black anodised 255g when the two brass based in silver chrome and titanium finish 336g  I never have black chrome, but it may weight the same as silver chrome/TI  As side note, my Summilux-M 1.4/35 Asph (I) only 306g so why I have sold all Cron 35mm Asph.
