Mefty Posted May 7, 2017 Share #21 Posted May 7, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I will try them on the M10 in Austria the next few days, and will post some more pics later. So far I really like the 50mm and the 75mm. A little bit low in contrast but nothing which can't be fixed easily in post. Both are quite sharp already wide open. Some chroma but also easily to fix in post. Like to buttery bokeh of the 50. Here my setup for the next days Welcome, dear visitor! Robert E Posted May 8, 2017 Author Share #25 Posted May 8, 2017 Beautiful shot, nice composure, deep colors, but seems to lack sharpness. Wish there was a side by side comparison with the corresponding Leica counterpart lens. Just my two cents worth.
Mefty Posted May 9, 2017 Share #26 Posted May 9, 2017 Actually the 50mm is quite sharp so is the photo, but seems that I have not yet found the right export settings for the forum software? Side by side will be difficult but I would say the Leica counterpart lens is definitely superior. The 50mm is good, but who want's Leica quality will get Leica glass or Zeiss. I think Voigtländer is here the better one to compete with. My personal ranking so far: Leica Zeiss Voigtländer Iberit

Robert E Posted May 9, 2017 Author Share #29 Posted May 9, 2017 Well, What can I say? I'm looking at these on a high rez 24" monitor, and I just don't see the sharpness. Nice colors, maybe a little soft in contrast, nice bokeh circles though. Appreciate you putting these up, and I think your lens ranking is verified by these photos. At one time I was very close to buying one of the iberit lenses, now I'm glad I opted for the Leica instead. But hey, for the budget conscious, they may be worth looking at. (pun intended)
Mefty Posted May 9, 2017 Share #30 Posted May 9, 2017 (edited) Well to be honest, I am not sure if it is possible to judge the sharpness of the lens by these photos here? You are right the photos here in the thread are missing sharpness, but on my 15" MacBook pro the sharpness is ok. colonel Posted May 11, 2017 Share #32 Posted May 11, 2017 Leica Zeiss Voigtländer Iberit I can't comment on Iberit, but I used to think like that list However recently I decided that it depends on the lens. The Voigtlander 50mm f1.5 I would put ahead of any Zeiss 50mm offering for the moment for example
friedeye Posted May 13, 2017 Share #33 Posted May 13, 2017 These do look a little soft. And, for their size and price, I think the Zeiss offerings are far superior. And, as my go to lens is a Nokton 40, I kind of prefer the CV offerings as well.

Go Figure Posted July 3, 2017 Share #35 Posted July 3, 2017 These do look a little soft. And, for their size and price, I think the Zeiss offerings are far superior. And, as my go to lens is a Nokton 40, I kind of prefer the CV offerings as well. Zeiss 25/2.8 is prone to "Zeiss wobble " once you start using their offerings professionally - they just don't hold up as well as Solms Solms still only has the ashtray sized 24/1.4 which they created as a 35/1.4 surrogate for the M8 ... they still make no 24/2.0. CV have nothing beyond f4.0 ... so Iberit is looking better by the minute
jaapv Posted July 3, 2017 Share #36 Posted July 3, 2017 Hmmm... The Summilux 24 is one of my absolute favourites amongst Leica lenses. A "dead clammy hands" lens.

Go Figure Posted July 3, 2017 Share #38 Posted July 3, 2017 Hmmm... The Summilux 24 is one of my absolute favourites amongst Leica lenses. A "dead clammy hands" lens. I understand ... performance is stellar as if they made it for the SL ... I just could not live with the viewfinder blockage on the M8. It's a different animal on the FF M's but for close quarter shooting I just never get the time to recompose through an external VF.
Robert E Posted July 4, 2017 Author Share #39 Posted July 4, 2017 To me, the iBerts still look soft. I guess it falls under "you get what you pay for".
