I was there early October. Beautiful area! I live in Hamburg, Germany, though.

My photo, same position – but using a Nikon, so I'm not embedding the photo here.

That's terrific...and very funny. We probably both stayed at the Hampton Inn (where we stay every year). The leaves turned a bit later this year. Hope you return and catch them in full splendor.

Living in the Lake District National Park, we get very grumpy when visitors either don't pick up dog waste, or, rather than flicking it off the path, pick it up in a doggy bag and throw it into bushes or stuff it into a crevice in a wall or tree trunk. We have an increasing problem with people camping on the fells and in woods then leaving all their kit when they move on. I've brought down tents, sleeping bags, frying pans, empty cans, bottles, clothing etc. People have BBQs by the lake and leave their BBQ and bottles and food containers and cans for someone else to clear away. My friend has been quite vocal on Facebook and his Instagram account regarding this. I started on his Christmas card today.

I'm sorry about that: I so loved the beauty of your countryside (stayed at the magnificent Drunken Duck and hiked many miles). But it's the world we now live in, alas. Tourism is massive business; fully commercialized and disrespectful.

The lobby of the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, California. According to the plaque on an exterior wall, the theatre is "a superior rendering of the 'Art Deco,' or 'Moderne' style of movie palace built during the rise of the motion picture industry. The Paramount, which opened on December 16, 1931, is the most ambitious theatre design of architect Timothy L. Pflueger. Restored in 1973, it has retained an exceptional unity of style." 1/60s, f/1.7, ISO 800
