Yes, it is a wonderful portrait, although I find the OOF nose to be distracting. This is one instance where ultra-thin DOF was detrimental to the image, IMO.

Rob

I was so drawn to the eyes that I didn’t even notice the soft focus on the nose. I agree with you. Still, extraordinary.

Welcome to the Q forum. Your photos are nice to look at. You experienced the macro mode, B&W, and some nice landscape images. Looks like some I took on a recent trip. The Q is a great travel camera. Enjoy!

My first outing with the Q.... New Orleans.  The French Quarter did not disappoint.

The hotel we stayed in had a gorgeous mural in the dinning room.  I was amazed at how good the Q can be in low light.

Is it encouraged to critique photos on this thread?

On other sites this would be in a separate, designated thread where it was clear that this was invited.

Yes, certainly, particularly in a thread which is meant to showcase pictures made with a particular kind of gear. I would, perhaps, expect the critique to focus more on the strength and weaknesses of the particular equipment being demonstrated, such as is the case with the comment you questioned.

I don't see anywhere on this site that photo critiques are either encouraged or discouraged. As long as they are meant to be helpful and constructive, I think they are a good thing.
