I continue to be underwhelmed by Q2 image rendering and have to come back to this thread for comfort.

I find that there are inspirational photographs across all threads. It seems that the quality of the photography is independent of the camera used, but instead reflects the individual and their creative talents. I don't really judge others based on my own subjective tastes. I may not find a photo to be moving, but that doesn't mean that others won't be impressed. I suspect that most of us come here for fun and enjoy sharing our creations with others. I never feel compelled to make negative comments about the work others, as I've seen that most of the members of this site also abide by. It keeps this a friendly place to come to without feeling that we are being judged negatively by our fellow photographers.

I made a comment about being uninspired by the Q2 image rendering. Nothing at all wrong with criticizing the character of equipment. Let's not confuse our gear with our work.

When considering an image as displayed on this forum, the image you see is a function of both the work of the photographer and the camera used. The gear and the work are not independent with respect to the final product. Based on this point of view, I made my posting above. Making a statement concerning being underwhelmed about the images that you are viewing on these pages, when the Q2 is used, is equivalent to making a judgmental statement concerning the work of the human who made the image using the Q2. We are in this hobby to have fun and we come here to share our enthusiasm with the friends we've made here.

By the way, I am lost with your comment that some of us equate our gear with our self-worth. Based on what I experience on this site, I see not even a hint of support for the claim.

That claim is based on your knee-jerk response to equate that I don't like the Q2 image rendering with I don't like the artistic vision in many of the shots. The very fact that you seem unable to differentiate between what I said and what you're assuming proves that point.

Back when reviews and images first started rolling in from the Q2, many of us here were discussing if the differences we were seeing versus the original Q were tied to the people using the Q2 or to the cameras themselves. It's been long enough now that I see lots of great work in the Q2 thread, but I still see a distinct difference in the output from these two cameras, and I have and am allowed to express a preference. No one should feel slighted because I don't prefer their equipment

Good grief, more images and less being offended. I loved my Q. It was my first Leica. It was described to me as "a gateway drug" and so it was, as I moved on to the M. Sold the Q. But because of my continued fondness for the Q,  I followed this thread and think maybe even posted one of my old Q photos when first participating in the forum. Today I unfollowed the thread 'cause who needs to find annoying conversations like these in their mailbox? For the record, I see nothing wrong about commenting on cameras and lenses. It has been a tremendous help when considering purchases.  Less sensitivity to comments may be in order too.  Y'all play nice. Cheers. P.S. Probably should have minded my own business. :0)

Well, I'm bowing out and will try to do better moving forward. Every forum has its own character, and I seem to have stepped on the toes of this one. Carry on.
