Dal Lake...

Srinagar, Kashmir India

Leica Q @1/200 Sec; f/8.0; ISO 2000.

The blues and greens in the foreground, the sun at the rest and the boat in the middle distance - all conspiring with the photographer for an amazing result!

Truly, a fantastic photo. Is it really a simple two shot vertical pano merged in LR? I suppose the perspective of the buildings and certainly the light helps make it so dramatic. Could you share what your thoughts were when you took this? Thanks.

The evening light was magical - light rain, so everything was lit from below. I was running all around the edge of the building's roof with the Q trying to get every possible image. I tried many panorama combinations, mostly the usual horizontal orientation. But I know those towers well, having a close friend who has lived there for over 30 years, and some of my favorite Pentax 67 shots were from HIS roof, so I made sure to get good coverage there. But yes, that is just two hand held shots merged in LR with a little perspective adjustment - mostly to equalize the images to get the largest post-cropped area.

The Q is marvelous! I wish I could say that I had pre-visualized it, but it was mostly luck. On the other hand, I have more keepers from that night than from most 3-month periods. One of them will be my first photo to hang in a public space. (It's not my favorite, but they wanted visible fireworks. And it's also a hand-held shot - the visible trails on the fireworks were just what was visible at that instant.)
