and another pair with crops ......... M+21/3.4 and Q.

these are problematic images needing a lot of shadow recovery and highlight reduction due to the limited illumination from the windows ......

IQ is the same.

I would guess the 2nd is the Q because the statue has better focus.

err...... actually because it's bigger ...... 28mm versus 21mm .... but even allowing for that it is crisper and there is a wider tonal range ...... and this was at f 1.7 ... whereas the 21mm on the M was at f4 ....... but these were 2yrs apart and the lighting was comparable but not identical .....

anyway the basic point is that I can see no evidence that the Q produces images that are significantly inferior to the M240 with the average modern M series lens.

If someone believes this they need to post examples with evidence that this is the case, rather than make sweeping statements based on opinion rather than fact

Thanks for these examples.  Incidentally, do you have a lot of these near-identical comparisons?  I would find it very hard to do two years later!  I like those shots of the church interior!

I have to say the IQ isn't close. The M may be harder work (which is why I bought a Q), but the M's image quality is vastly better. I'm finding the Q to be a real disappointment, close to giving up and selling it to be honest. The results are that of an expensive happy-snappy camera.

I'd love to see examples of your photos to illustrate your disappointment, thanks

a fair few ....... just coincidence I had to entertain some visitors from abroad and took them to Broughton Castle which I had visited before ......  and decided to take the Q and see how it handled the difficult interiors ....... and took almost the identical shots as the previous time with the M.

None of them add very much to what is shown in my comparisons above ....... as far as I can see the Q is at least as good and in some circumstances probably better than the M .........

So does this mean that your T is of no further interest to you? (I'm on the point of getting one s/h 'as new' at a silly price.)

PS possibly a PM rather than a forum reply?!

Still use the T ....... very nice camera with great image quality .... all the available T zoom and prime lenses are excellent and using M series lenses with the adapter is a great advantage ......

I'm afraid you are spoilt for choice with the X-Vario, T, Q  and M from Leica at the moment ... all are fine cameras with their own niche depending on your needs ..... all have their minor drawbacks but there again there isn't a camera that is perfect for everyone in all circumstances.

I have taken some of my best images with the X-Vario .... it is very under-rated and is a pleasure to use ...... just a pity it doesn't have the integral EVF of the Q .....

For those that really enjoy excellent beef, here is a great place to go in Galveston, TX for a Wagyu beef hamburger.  It is just fabulous.  The place is called the Porch and located in the Beachtown development.
