GarethC Posted June 18, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sunday evening musings. A couple of weeks ago I posted to say that I had bought an M8, knowing my buying habits with DSLR's, I knew the lens lust was soon to follow. Boy, was I right. When I bought the M8 the dealer had a 28/2.8 Elmarit ASPH in stock, it would have been wrong of me not to buy it as well. So I did. I think I have more lenses than I've taken photos with the thing. Enjoying landscapes and wide angle in general the CV 15 was a gimme. Got it. Everybody needs a 50, don't they? I did. So I did. Summicron 50/2. I messed the dealer about when I bought the CV 15 so I didn't buy it from him. It would have been wrong of me not to give him the business even though he hadn't billed me yet. Morally, I needed to spend the money with him as he had been so understanding. And something longer would always help. So, whadda ya know, the Color Skopar 75/2.5 follows. I'd like to say that's it but I know it's not. The next thing I do is upgrade the lenses so that the CV's go and I get better Leica lenses. And on it goes.................. Steve C Posted June 18, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 18, 2007 To quote a rather infamous ball player: "It ain't over till it's over!" And it ain't over! Trust me. it has nothing to do about need. Have you looked at the wonderful 90 mm?
ozdavid Posted June 18, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 18, 2007 Gareth, The CV 15 is hard to beat but I can tell you from bitter experience that you shouldn't try the 75 'cron ASPH because if you do, you will find it irresistable! It has produced some results which, accepting my limited competence, demonstrate quite extraordinary resolution on some casual portraits I have done. Have lots of fun! jaapv Posted June 18, 2007 Share #4 Posted June 18, 2007 Hah...Wait until you see a good 75 Summilux, and then great 21 will cross your path, and the ultimate is of course Noctilust....
luigi bertolotti Posted June 18, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 18, 2007 :) Lens lust ? Stop your insane stimulation with those tiny pieces of glass !!! go to some marketplace, take a Visoflex II or III if you haven't yet... and... BUY a TELYT 560 F 5,6 !!! (NOT the 6,8, I remark... too little and light): expecially if you... couple it with its little 400 brother, or even a modest (Canada...) 280 You'll have a satisfaction that ENDURES and RENOVATES BY ITSELF anytime you look at your photo bag and more again when take the bag with you !!! Eoin Posted June 18, 2007 Share #7 Posted June 18, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Jaap, I thought we'd have a little respite from GAS for a couple of weeks while Guy was traveling in Europe . Obviously not!. As well you know these lenses are very addictive and the habit becomes very expensive. Have some consideration for those amongst us who feel a 21, 28, 35, 50 & 75 would be enough. Obviously not, or at least I thought so:D. Anyone have the number of a help center, quickly please!
