So many good photos.  To my eye they lack brightness and contrast.  Is that an atmosphere by design?

Thanks for your kind words!

You have a good eye - I used the Lightroom Neutral profile to preserve detail and gradations without resorting to HDR methods, something like my attempt to translate the Zone System to a digital world. In a sense the images I shared are not fully cooked:

1. The pictures could not be printed without looking horrible (not enough contrast on non-self illuminating media, i.e. not on screen).

2. I didn't want to rely on the standard profile curve for contrast, as it indiscriminately throws away information for the benefit of approximating perceptive expectations.

3. As with analog photography, proper finishing of those images would require a good amount of dodging and burning -- there's a reason why "The Negative" is one of the 3 major stages in Ansel Adam's Photography trilogy; in this M10 camera thread, I chose to stay closer to "straight out of camera" to share the technical interim product with an Ilford XP2 conversion (DXO FilmPack). For posting to Landscape/Portraits/... and other topical threads I may consider a different approach and post either a completed (fully edited) negative or use a non-linear profile as a shortcut ...

Thanks again for your feedback!
