How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2048 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “choose Fil

I was enjoying this picture, the arrangement of space, the play of light and color, the spacing of the family members, and, it made me think of some other pictures along some French rivers. Then I read the backstory, ouch. I'm sure we can all relate to a mis-step, losing one's footing, slipping, or even dropping a camera. This has it all, and I'm glad to know Boojay only lost a camera as traumatic as that is. A memorable experience and a beautiful picture.

I live over the road from a very big river, at this time of year it's huge and incredibly fast flowing, so powerful it doesn't freeze fully in the winter even with temperatures regularly below -30. It's not great to photograph as a whole because it's just a big mass of white water for a kilometre or more, a bit dull most of the time. It has risen at least a meter in the last week and is deafeningly loud, the great Swedish health and safety mentality means it's best not to get to close to the edge! Some of the crashing water can be over 30ft high, quite impressive.

last week after a day of rain the sun broke through in the late afternoon. i grabbed my M10 w 35 ASPH Summicron and also used my XVario since it was close at hand. posted one from the XV on that thread and just getting to this one today.

iso 100    f/2.0   1/250
