Prices have already gone up in UK by £250. I think if you've paid a deposit then the original price should be honoured

Ouch!  Makes me even happier I got in early!  I may have had some fun with early firmware, but the reality has been that the M10 has been pretty solid from day one.  With the improvement that's been made in EVF performance I really don't feel a need for any additions.  Sorry for those who have been stuck with a long wait.

Hang on in there though - it's really worth it!

A $300 price increases for the M10 is going to hit May 1st in the states.

Anyone know if this is going to affect those of us who have already ordered and are still wait for their M10?

Yes, the price goes up for the dealer and is passed on. In fact one dealer told me that, unlike increases for other Leica gear announced for May1, the M10 increase will be effective for cameras shipped from Leica after April 19th.

I bet availability coincidentally rises with the increase.

London dealers Caplan, Red Dot, Classic Camera, and Leica Mayfair all still list M10 price as £5600 (Park Cameras' web page and others now show £5850). And I guess Leica will invoice cameras delivered to dealers at their new list, backorders notwithstanding. With pre-orders I expect customers will have to pay the new figure less deposit, where applicable. But Leica ought to concede that orders they had from dealers should be fulfilled at the order date prices, when their supplies have been so pathetic.

I think that is BS for those of us on the preorder list. I know everyone here is purchasing a $6000 camera so it's not like we are hurting for money, but having a price increase before you fulfill your preorders is garbage.

You would think the powers that be within Leica would have priced the M10 correctly at launch to include the planned April general price increase across other Leica products .

Apparently not!, launch at €6500, get people interested and committed to sit on lists for months and then as a kicker, sting them for a further €250 for being patient enough to wait while Leica catchup on the demand.

Sure, €250 is relatively small compared to €6500, but when you've budgeted for camera & maybe thumb grip or EVF, something may have to give to keep your spend within budget.

Way to go Leica, nice way to deflate the pleasure of being told by the dealer "your camera has arrived, but it's going to cost you €250 more". Marketing blunder 101!.

I ordered a silver M10 from B&H on Jan 31st and actually got some info from them today:

"Unfortunately, at this time we do not have any concrete information from Leica when we will have more of these in stock to cover your order. We have received some shipments and are expecting to receive a shipment on May 1st, but it is being released in limited quantities by the manufacturer and as of now that shipment is not expected to cover your order."

Meanwhile, Florham Village Camera says they could get me a camera in under 2 weeks and I placed an order from them just 10 days ago. Clearly, the smaller dealers are the way to go.

Why is it amazing. What's so amazing about it, can you use the rangefinder, how is it? Have you got any pictures at all....... what about the strap, how is that??

Its amazing because its is a lot of firsts for me (for now). My first M. My first FF camera. It has nice feel to it. Very solid.

How much better the rangefinder, is something i can't say as this is my first M. Its seems to be very good but i am taking time to focus. I am sure it'll get better with time.

The strap is nothing special. Its decent for one that comes free with camera.

It would be bordering on offensive for them to raise prices while people are waitlisted. I might just dump Leica altogether if they did that to me.

I think it is absolutely offensive, considering the slow rollout of the M10 and the number of people who have been on wait lists for months, to raise the prices now. If the M10 suddenly becomes widely available after May 1st, I will be even more discusted with Leica. This was to be my first new Leica, as I bought my M9 used. At this point, I am seriously considering holding off on my purchase and buying a used model later on. I do not like to feel I am being taken advantage of by any company, and I certainly have options.

I put my name on that list about 10-14 days ago too. I ordered from B&H on the 20th I believe.

Given Steve Huff's exuberant latest preview [aren't they all?   ], maybe some will be switching orders to the c.£4k Sony 24MP A9 camera – with inbuilt EVF that's allegedly better than the SL's. And due in June 2017.

Maybe a handful will switch, but I suspect few Leica fans will see the Sony as an acceptable substitute for the M10, even with a better EVF.

My M10 Chrome is due to arrive at the end of this week, ordered in February.

Now it has come to the crunch, I've had serious second thoughts about a digital camera. I think I'll just stick to film after all!!

If anyone in Australia/NZ wants me to put them onto an immediately available M10 from an official Leica dealer, just drop me a PM...

A reputable dealer will move to the next person on its wait list, assuming there is one.
