roverover Posted April 4, 2017 Share #825 Posted April 4, 2017 BH will be closed until almost the end of April (passover). Your wait just got longer. Their closing dates are 4/9 - 4/19 according to the info on their Home Page ...so in reality, just 10 days.

Well, 9 days from sundown on the 9th (6pm) through sundown on the 18th, reopening the morning of the 19th. And even less considering they always close anyway at 2pm on Fridays until Sunday. NDOC Posted April 4, 2017 Share #828 Posted April 4, 2017 Has anyone received any camera recently? This thread is getting quiet, seems more people get their orders fulfilled? Leica has a serious backlog of unsold Typ 240 series bodies collecting dust in their warehouse. They just extended their rebate program on the 240 series until the end of June. I suspect that Leica is withholding large shipments of the M10 until they can sell more 240-series bodies.

wattsy Posted April 5, 2017 Share #835 Posted April 5, 2017 I suspect that Leica is withholding large shipments of the M10 until they can sell more 240-series bodies. Wow. I've heard some bizarre notions in my time, but I think this one takes the cake! Are many people in the market for an M10 likely to buy an M240 because they are unwilling to wait a few months for an M10 to be delivered? Seems very unlikely to me, especially because a high proportion of those waiting for an M10 either already have an M240 or decided long ago to skip that iteration altogether. The only way Leica are going to sell unsold stock of the M240 is by offering a decent price differential in relation to the M10. Artificially constraining supply of the newer product isn't going to persuade many people to buy the older product.

NDOC Posted April 5, 2017 Share #839 Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) Strange view I can't imagine that some who's interesstet in a M10 will buy the m240 instead - Never ... And yet, Leica is obviously desperate to unload Typ 240 bodies to the extent that they're willing to extend their $2000 rebate offer through the end of June. Not every potential Leica buyer reads this forum and realizes how much better the M10 is vis-a-vis the 240 or would even care. Many who want a Leica are simply put off by the price. Clearly, Leica is betting that by offering a generous rebate it will tempt many people to buy now and help them move old product. The longer the 240 bodies lie around unsold the greater the chance Leica will have to write them off. It makes sense that Leica might want to put more effort into moving the 240 than the M10 for a little while. Edited April 5, 2017 by NDOC
wattsy Posted April 5, 2017 Share #840 Posted April 5, 2017 Leica is betting that by offering a generous rebate it will tempt many people to buy now and help them move old product. Yes, discounting the price of the unsold older stock is sensible but that is not the same thing as putting "more effort into moving the 240 than the M10 for a little while".
