Thx The Leica charger will work as a wall charger if you use the apple plug adapters instead of the supplied lead. Much easier for travel Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

fatihayoglu Posted March 22, 2017 Share #708 Posted March 22, 2017 Just to share a good news; I've ordered my very first Leica which is M1 on 6th Feb in London and today the shop has called me to confirm my delivery details. The item will be with me tomorrow or Friday.
Surelythisnameisfree Posted March 22, 2017 Share #709 Posted March 22, 2017 Which shop in London?
fatihayoglu Posted March 22, 2017 Share #710 Posted March 22, 2017 (edited) Which shop in London? Name of the shop, I cant disclose only because not to create any problem for the shop as I wasn't at the top of the list. But I can tell you what has happened; So I have put my order on 6th Feb to few shops. Every single Tuesday in March, I have started to call each shop to check how I am doing, how many people they have, etc. I was chatting also about how they are, how excited I am etc. Yesterday, as it was a Tuesday, I've called all the shops again, and this particular shop has told me that they actually have a camera but reserved for somebody on the queue but they cant reach to this person and this person doesn't return their calls as well. So, they have asked me to wait another 24hr and they've promised to call me today. Instead of waiting them, I have called today to see and they gave me the green light. So dedication and persistence have helped me and you never know. There might be a person who has ordered the camera but doesn't return the call so the shop can give you a chance. LeicaGuy2014 Posted March 22, 2017 Share #711 Posted March 22, 2017 Exactly. Place order at dealer, order goes to Leica. Allocated production slot. Buyer gets notice that he has order number xxxxxxxxx scheduled for production say w/c 18 September 2017 and can expect to take possession 2 weeks later. Customer is happy as can arrange his affairs accordingly, dealer is happy as can forecast revenue and avoid agitated customer calls, Leica is happy as can take deposits up front and has better view of demand to scale production accordingly. It isn't rocket science. I like this idea - I'd modify it slightly tho - Order thru Leica directly, then select where you want to pick up (ie, which dealer). This is similar to what Apple does with new iphones - order from the website then select either "ship to me" or "pick up from store" ... This would also allow Leica to see true demand and eliminate the massive run to "sign up on as many local dealer lists as possible" mentality... Shame if there was a list, in which case the next person in line should have gotten a call. If so, you now understand the ethics of the dealer if you ever experience issues. I don't understand why if there's a list and someone drops out it wouldn't just go to the next in line
fatihayoglu Posted March 22, 2017 Share #714 Posted March 22, 2017 And do you guys think Leica prioritise their own boutiques or not? The answer is yes, they prioritise. So Leica doesn't have the ethic.

Jeff S Posted March 22, 2017 Share #716 Posted March 22, 2017 How do we know he wasn't the next person on the list?. But that would ruin his conclusion that dedication and persistence made the difference. Better to keep him happy. Jeff

fatihayoglu Posted March 22, 2017 Share #718 Posted March 22, 2017 Anyway, I was trying to make a point and trying to advise to check your suppliers weekly or bi weekly basis. But hey anybody can interpret this the way they like.
AlanJW Posted March 22, 2017 Share #719 Posted March 22, 2017 The interpretation is clear: You got your camera and someone else got screwed. Unless you were next in the queue, the dealer acted improperly if not unethically in not offering the camera to the next person on the list. But the lists do change rapidly. I started off way down on a list when I ordered Feb 16 and by March 3 I was next line for a silver (which I expect this week). So perhaps you actually were next and the dealer simply wanted to wait to see if the person ahead of you would drop out. If you are sure you were not next, the dealer should be ashamed and obviously, while you are happy to have a camera that should have gone to someone else, I don't think the circumstances would call for congratulations.
jdstall01 Posted March 22, 2017 Share #720 Posted March 22, 2017 Anyway, I was trying to make a point and trying to advise to check your suppliers weekly or bi weekly basis. But hey anybody can interpret this the way they like. There is but one interpretation. You let your greed overpower your will to do the right thing and let the salesperson call the next person on the list. The price of all things sold in a market is based upon many factors, one of which being how much overhead a retailer has in moving each unit to the customer base. Each person who takes more time of a salesperson with weekly pestering not only raises the overhead involved in peddling said unit, but also annoys the merchants and causes them to want to be rid of you. They may be nice and shoot the sh*t with you but they aren't your friends and they do not want you to call. Attitudes like yours are the kind that work to ensure you get your item as quickly as possible.. but in the long run can cause uneasiness that muddies the supply line and drives up the cost of service.
