Yes, most likely I misread or misunderstood. In this case I'm happy to be wrong :)

Now I have found the source. It's Puts that writes that base ISO, or basic sensitivity as phrases it, is 200 in his review.

Well, I have to vote "no", on the M10. I love my M240 so much, I bought the M240P two years ago so now have two Leica's which has been great. I'm really disappointed in a couple of things with the M10. I love landscape shooting and I do use a tripod in lower light. I always use the level which appears to be missing. Also, the NR in bulb mode continues to be a pain. I love to do longer exposures and I hate that NR feature and want the options to turn it off like in my Nikon. I don't care about video so losing that is not a problem but I was really hoping for improved bulb mode. The M10 has moveable focus point in live view which is great for focus stacking but I have learned how to compensate manually if I want to do that. Just not enough features to make it worth it for me.

I voted yes for the M10 but this is a "want" not a "need" for me at this time. The improvements over the 240 are, to me, very nice. If they'd had an M10-P from day one, I might be seriously tempted. As it is, there are actually two little things that I'd love to see when they do a mid-cycle update: Longer exposure limit in bulb mode, defeatable NR for long exposures, and a better external EVF. Ok, that's like 2.5 things. None are deal breakers for me, so I suppose I'll cave when the M10-P rolls around.

I voted no, some nice improvements like the size, but for the price of a reduced battery life. If the sensor is comparable with the Q it's a nice but minor upgrade. But the biggest let down for me is the VF, a nice upgrade on the OVF and a big disappointment on the EVF, seems a bit like when they launched the M240 with an EVF which was outdated even before the launch! I hoped for a hybrid solution or at least an SL like external EVF.

I might switch to the SL, if they only would launch some more compact native lenses...

Definitely interested, but am still keen to read more reviews. I'm usually cautious, but straightaway the M9 looks to have all the features I'd need or want.

I could have written the specs myself! Better dynamic range, better high ISO performance, clearer larger viewfinder, slimmer body, simplified controls. Even better weather-proofing. A significant step forward from the M9. I don't need video or a USB connection, and don't want to be a computer programmer to be able to use it.

A drawback: No idea when it may become available in this country. Probably quite some time.

For once I voted no ......  :p

I would like and M10 ...... but I don't need an M10 .... and on this occasion the itch is just not strong enough to scratch ..... yet, anyway

I have used the SL almost exclusively for 14 months ... apart from the odd day with the Q .... and the 'charm' and idiosyncrasies of the M have paled somewhat in the face of a near optical digital VF experience and ergonomics that would be hard to better.

Of course, I'll no doubt get one out of pure curiosity - and pension off some redundant Leica gear to justify the extravagance, but I'm just not that sure it would get much use .....

Missing the fifth option - no, because my Fuji X-Pro2 / X-T2 covers all my needs in the 24MP mirrorless / travel / everyday camera space.

That's my situation. I am still using the M246 which I love to shoot with old Leica lenses from the 1960s - so no trolling here.

I will absolutely buy this camera. As one who has very little interest in video, I'll be happy to finally have an M without it. For the rare occasion when I want video, I'll use my VL114 which does a superb job. I'm also looking forward to the improved weather sealing, higher ISO, viewfinder magnification, improved dynamic range and many other features. This is the camera I've been waiting for. Having been burned a few times by purchasing new releases too quickly, I'm going to wait just a bit to be sure there aren't any big problems with it.

Thinking about Thighslapper's post, an ideal combination would be the SL (and associated zooms) and the M10 (and M lenses); interchangeable with adapters, except of course the zooms on the M10, but then I wouldn't propose to get the EVF as there would be no point, using primarily 28-90mm M lenses.  The simplicity of these options has huge appeal, along with clearing out gear.

To do this, though, I'd need to sell:

  • M60 - it's such a beautiful camera, and lovely to use
  • Monochrom - it's one of very few silver chrome version 1 Monochroms, and I would miss it.  It still offers better B&W files than the SL or M60 converted
  • M-A - well, I hardly use it, but I'd hate to lose the use of film
  • M3 - worth nothing much, and fabulous with the 50 Summitar

Yet, it all mostly sits on the shelf.  Sell the lot and keep one (forget about the M10, I don't really gain anything from it) - that would be the Monochrom ...

Why I'm on board:

- The new viewfinder will make it more accurate for me to focus and view my 35mm lenses (cron or lux), which in my view are the most ideal companions to an M. I have eyeglasses and the  M240 lets me barely see the corners of the 35mm framelines. I like to be able to see outside of my composition, which I think is one of the advantages of a rangefinder in general. I use a 0.58 on a film body, but I think this high eyepoint design is the best solution yet.

- Any improvements in responsiveness to live view shot to shot time allows me to more easily use my 21mm and 75mm summiluxes, which I also view as reasons to own an M in the first place. I think Live view is easier to use with these lenses generally speaking, and I prefer the M style body to the SL style body.

- Any improvements to color balance and high iso quality are very welcomed.

- Any reduction in weight and size has practical benefits to me personally.

- New button layout looks simpler to operate with gloves.

- Wifi and GPS are practical niceties that are good to have.

While I think the omission of video is a little bullish, I still think this is the best digital M leica's put forward so far.

I've got one on order. I'm just waiting on my drug dealer to get back from Germany and let me know when to ship him my S2 trade-in.

The M10 is almost perfect. Perfection would be the M10 as is with 36 MB and 16 bit. But it is close enough.

I had a hands on play for a decent amount of time today in the store as there were no other customers in line to see it. Decidedly, I won't be purchasing one off the bat for the following reasons:

1.) I do not see a drastic improvement in the magnification of the viewfinder. Leica states it's 30% bigger and I was expecting a huge difference, but I just didn't see it.

2.) ISO dial - way too hard to click up. I pretty much had to exert both thumb and pointer finger with much force to pop the darn thing up. Maybe over time it might loosen a tad? Only time will tell.

3.) Smaller battery

4.) No video

5.) Same 24mp resolution

On a positive note, the rear LCD and the visoflex EVF is vastly improved and the processor is much faster making the entire user experience very snappy and wonderful. These are reasons enough for me to possibly spring for a special edition M10 in the future. For now, my new M-P 240 Titanium set should keep me busy enough...
