Darker in the center, then a brighter zone surrounding it and again fall off in the egdes. Is this a C1 artifact or charakteristic for this lens?

Ecar Posted March 4, 2023 Share #10494 Posted March 4, 2023 A tale of two early J-3s (heavily cropped picture below taken with a converted 195X Angenieux S21 50/1.5 on the M10M, in strict compliance with the rules of this thread…😉) Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Both produced in 1951 in the KMZ factory and only a few hundred serial numbers apart. As confirmed by Skyllaney’s Sonnar expert Chris Andreyo, who CLA’d them a couple of months ago, both were also built using exclusively Schott glass plundered transferred from CZJ. Interestingly however, the “earliest” one (version PT1627, left one above) is essentially a CZJ 50/1.5 Sonnar lens with a Jupiter beauty ring – like its predecessor, the Zorki ZK – while the “later” one (version PT1630) uses a Soviet-designed aluminium optical block, shows a few additional cosmetic changes and loses the “ears” on the aperture ring. Also, the coatings appear to be different: those on the earlier lens show a blueish tint, while the later lens is brownish. In terms of rendering, without pixel peeping, I can’t see any obvious difference with the ZK – or a coated CZJ 50/1.5 for that matter. A couple of test shots below, first with the PT1627 on the M10P ASC and 2nd with the PT1630 on the M10M, both wide open @ MFD. 17
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
