pippy Posted December 12 Share #15982 Posted December 12 (edited) 1 hour ago, sandro said: Hi Philip, what made you use a blue filter? Were the contrasts too strong?... No Sandro; not at all. Not for that picture. Having judged that day's weather forecast ("Absolutely Bloody Crap so Just Deal With It!") for what was expected to be some outdoor snapping I had fitted, for the 40mm f2.8 Sonnar / Monochrom pairing, the Blue filter before leaving home (but that decision is the topic for a different conversation entirely 😸) Whilst the 13098 Blue can offer some benefits for B'n'W shooting it being mentioned here, in connection with the photograph posted above, is simply because it was fitted to the lens when the pic was captured. Nothing more Clever nor, indeed, Sinister...... Philip. Edited December 12 by pippy

pklein Posted Wednesday at 12:47 AM Share #15995 Posted Wednesday at 12:47 AM We visited friends for first night of Hanukkah, I thought I'd fool with my old 1949 Summitar. It's a time machine lens. At f/4, it's good, solid 1950s. At f/2.8 it's 1940s. And at f/2, it is 1930s with a touch of Dada and Surrealism if treated right. In this shot, I went wide open and let the lens be itself. It obliged. Welcome, dear visitor! So you see both the doubled reflections inside and the Christmas lights and bushes outside.
