 1946 Nippon Kogaku Japan 50-2 Nikkor-H.C with M10.  The Nikkor-H.C is a Sonnar derivative with 6 (H = "hex") elements in 3 groups and C = coated.

Nice rendering Pete !

Are you sure it is from 1946?

Thank you for the link to the resource, Jean-Marc.🙂

No, I wasn't certain and I was using an approximate date given by Ken Rockwell (which I would hesitate to trust).  According to the link you very kindly provided it's likely to be later than '46 and probably between 1950 and 1962.

Wonder how reliable is that Nikon source though..for example for my Nikon f1.8 the serial is 1823xx and it's not there. Also no dates besides 1956~...wish this was as well documented and accurate as Leica lenses, but oh well.

The site linked to by @JMF is itself a compilation of various data sources (including owner-provided input) and is generally quite accurate. However, it may not be fully up-to-date for a particular lens. The best info source for Nikon RF lenses is, of course, Robert Rotoloni. By his own admission, though, he keeps finding new "Nikkor oddities" (batches, serial numbers, sub-versions,...) all the time! In the absence of full manufacturing records, this is not surprising, especially in the case of low-volume production items such as the 35/1.8 LTM. Sometimes you get lucky and a somewhat more accurate date can be deducted or 'triangulated' (eg, when the lens comes with the original papers or the body it was originally sold with).

A few more from the same series. Beats the Amazon shopping "experience", I think...

Same camera, lens and aperture as above.

Is that Istanbul's Grand Bazaar by any chance, Ecar?  I agree about Amazon. ^_^

Not quite, Pete. These were taken in the souks in the Medina of Marrakesh, Morocco.

Today I received my Leitz Elmar f:3.5 / 3.5cm which I had purchased last Monday on Ebay. It was built in 1939, but is coated and in a almost like mint condition :)

I quickly rushed out after returning from work in order to get some test shots before it gets dark:

Like with my Hektor 2.8cm, the center sharpness is excellent but it drops considerably towards the edges of the frame, even stopped down. But this might partially be caused by the relatively thick filter stack of the Sony A9 which I used. All in all, I'm very pleased with the results.

Exactly, with a M9 or M10 it should fare better in the corners .

The 85 Nikkor f2 was one of my first longer Leica lenses. Mine was not good at f2 but excellent at f2.8 to f11. It had an odd 48mm filter thread, so I had a step up adapter to 49mm. One lens I regret selling.
