Jul Posted October 24, 2022 Share #9722 Posted October 24, 2022 I don't have first hand experience on the summicron v1 but some people on this forum and elsewhere using both the summaron 35 2.8 and the summicron v1 found the summaron better (except at f/2 obviously). if your own experience is similar, swapping the summicron v1 for a summaron 35 2.8 and using the change to fund the steel rim reissue might be an option as well. I tried the 35 Summaron 2.8 ( had a coupled of these in LTM/M ) and kept the 35 Summicron V1 . shirubadanieru Posted October 24, 2022 Share #9725 Posted October 24, 2022 @Jul that is indeed a good strategy. Buy Summaron f2.8 for backup and use Steel Rim Remake as main one. The only benefit I see now with the 8e is that I can focus to 0.65m VS 1m, summaron can focus to 0.7m which is great. @JMF @romanus53 no love for the remake? : p I like it because I have to worry less about old optics that keep getting more expensive, in case it gets hazy etc due to age. Remakes are cheaper, 90% of rendering, and stress-free. In the spirit of this thread, let’s keep adding pictures when posting. Another one with the 8e and M3 combo shot wide open at MFD.
