A lens that I've lusted after for a long time but every time one is available my brain decides that I already have the 80/1.4 Summilux-R so when would the 85/2 Sonnar ever get out of the house?  It doesn't stop me lusting after it though so thank you for posting your picture.

It would appear that your brain is much more effective than mine at keeping lust in check…😉

I had also been looking for one for a long time, but only half-heartedly: after all, it’s not a true Sonnar formula and reports of sample variation, wobble, flare and massive CA are somewhat off-putting … until this one became available and the seller accepted a fair price for it so that, once again, GAS could be rationalised.

Whilst a very small adjustment may be needed to nail focus at f/2-f/2.8 using the rangefinder, my initial impressions are better than I had expected: it doesn’t wobble (yet?), flare is manageable (I replaced the original hood with a slightly longer one, which might help), CA is indeed present when and where you would expect it, but is not worse than other lenses (the Noctilux, for example).

Here is another one on the M10 @ f/2. Focus is on the prancing horse on the wing.

I tried to make a straight swap with the car's owner by telling him my lens is actually rarer than his car, but he wouldn't listen...

Was going through some older prints today, came across this print. Old print from the 70s, Leica IIIC 25mm Nikkor f4 LTM mount.

The truck I was driving had its engine set so it couldn't go over 55 mph, so this isn't as bad as it looks.

Great! Love the big steering wheel, gives the whole thing the vintage-touch.

Cheers, Shlomo.
