According to the shadows and to the central point of this photograph I would say the sun was not far of being orthogonal to the lens axis, if it really is so, it helps quite a lot in reducing flare. It's snow sculpted by the wind, right after a winter storm here in the Salt Lake City foothills. The air is the most clear after storms, and together with the altitude makes for amazing light.
