farnz Posted January 12, 2017 Author Share #3069 Posted January 12, 2017 As the starter of this thread would newcomers from the merged thread very kindly make sure to read the the first post in this thread to understand what makes this thread tick please? I want to keep the thread largely for pictures only so if you wish to discuss a particular lens or rendering then would you very kindly start a separate thread so that this thread doesn't become a discussion thread please? With that out of the way I look forward to seeing lots more pictures taken through older glass. Pete.
farnz Posted January 12, 2017 Author Share #3070 Posted January 12, 2017 Artin, Sorry to hear that you had a different intention for your thread. I didn't ask for the threads to be merged either so perhaps a Moderator will very kindly separate the threads again so that our two distinctly different objectives can be realised please? jaapv Posted January 13, 2017 Share #3076 Posted January 13, 2017 We try to keep the general image threads limited in the technical forums. If people want to discuss specific lenses with illustrations in separate threads, feel free to do so by all means. However, overall, images for display are supposed to go either into the dedicated threads in the relevant forums or into the photoforums. This in itself is a relaxation of the rules we had some years ago.
finarphin Posted January 13, 2017 Share #3077 Posted January 13, 2017 This is with a Leica 90mm Summicron f2 lens from 1960 on a Sony a7ii body. The lens had balsam separation which I had repaired. It had been raining for about a week and then stopped; I went out and did some test shots. It doesn't look quite right compressed to this size: it's darker and the tonal transitions aren't as smooth. farnz Posted January 13, 2017 Author Share #3078 Posted January 13, 2017 We try to keep the general image threads limited in the technical forums. This in itself is a relaxation of the rules we had some years ago. Jaap, This thread pre-dates the current forum structure so Andreas, or someone else in their wisdom, must have thought that the new Leica M Lenses subforum was the right place for it to reside and since. I agree with that decision and I hope it remains here owing to the wonderful resource it has turned out to be thanks to the generosity of so many forum members who have shared their pictures. I hope we don't end up detracting from this wonderful thread by moving it elsewhere for the sake of dogma. Pete.
