pridbor Posted January 9, 2017 Share #1  Posted January 9, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just moved across the Atlantic and in the process lost a piece of information/link to a "Paper folded Light meter" Computer. Basically looks like an old sliding Computer Stick.  I believe that it was a member on this Forum who gave reference to two gentlemen one who invented the concept and the other who made a simple/simpler version of this manual device.  Could someone please come up with a link to these papperdesigns, which seems to do a great job in setting up a manual camera in a very simple manner based upon 16 light conditions or so.  Thanks in advance  Preben

TomB_tx Posted January 9, 2017 Share #2 Â Posted January 9, 2017 This one? http://www.squit.co.uk/photo/exposurecalc.html
pridbor Posted January 9, 2017 Author Share #3  Posted January 9, 2017 Yes although it's notorious the same website, but that's OK.  Do you make use of it? It seemed very logical when I read the explanation of it's use, so I figured I would try it  Thanks for the quick reply!  Preben
david strachan Posted January 9, 2017 Share #4 Â Posted January 9, 2017 I made one with photo paper some years ago. Printed and folds well and works fine. Yes, you get your exposures...until one realises that you only have to look at the light yourself...without aids...surprise, a prefect exposure. Â cheers... pridbor Posted January 9, 2017 Author Share #5  Posted January 9, 2017 " Yes, you get your exposures...until one realises that you only have to look at the light yourself...without aids...surprise, a prefect exposure." cheers.  :-) I believe you but I'm in training after 15+ years of hiatus from film photography so I think I need "crutches" to help me whichever way :-). I agree with you but I assume that you use your equipment more than I do too, so sometimes repetition makes master  I found the website within the link bscott gave me so I'm good to go!  Thanks for the inputs both of you  Preben
mikemgb Posted January 10, 2017 Share #6  Posted January 10, 2017 I made a couple of these http://expomat.tripod.com/ and carry one in my wallet. I haven't used it yet, sunny 16 has worked so far, but I carry it anyway.
spydrxx Posted January 12, 2017 Share #7 Â Posted January 12, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been using one for about 5 years (when I'm not sure my "sunny 16" calculations are on the button) and found it to be quite accurate. I keep a copy in my camera bag as well as my car.
dpitt Posted January 13, 2017 Share #8 Â Posted January 13, 2017 Sometimes I use the sunny 16 rule on which this tool is based. But most of the time I have my smartphone with me. There are numerous apps to measure light... easier and probably more accurate
