Advertisement Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Hi Donzo98, Take a look here Trade Noctilux for 50 APO + cash..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LD_50 Posted December 30, 2016 Share #2 Â Posted December 30, 2016 Two different applications. Noctilux wide open and APO for everything else. Â I chose Summilux because I couldn't do those two. I prefer APO over noctilux because I'd use it a lot more often.

I chose Summilux because I couldn't do those two. I prefer APO over noctilux because I'd use it a lot more often.  I was sort of thinking the same way... I will likely use the 24-90 for most things... and the Noct wide open for creativity/artsy shots.  The APO likely would not get used much... i think I will stay put. Bill W Posted December 30, 2016 Share #4  Posted December 30, 2016 Staying put is a good choice.
pkwok Posted December 31, 2016 Share #5 Â Posted December 31, 2016 I will keep the Noct
turbonetics Posted December 31, 2016 Share #6 Â Posted December 31, 2016 both lenses are good in their own rights. but but but....the Noct can shoot @ F2, can the cron shoot @ F0.95?
tom0511 Posted December 31, 2016 Share #7 Â Posted December 31, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I once sold my Noct/0.95 when I had the 50 APO. For use on the M I prefer size of the 50APO, and its my fav. lens. Focusing such shallow dof on a rangefinder is hard, and the Noct is big. I still sometimes missed the Noctiluxed and then got a 50/1.0 (mainly because of the "lower" price), but its hard to focus on my M. I still think it has a special look. Â I think the Noctilux both versions are special, but shallof DOF is a certain effect which one can use not all the time, if I had to choose I would probably select the 50APO if I was planning to shoot it mainly on the M, and the Noctilux if I was shooting mainly on the SL (Noctilux size fits the SL very good). Â On the SL I would probably buy the new 50/1.4SL over both lenses, because it has AF which is a huge benefit, specially for shallow DOF.
Paul J Posted December 31, 2016 Share #8 Â Posted December 31, 2016 I have both because they are different but if I was to keep one it would be the Noctilux.
fabior Posted December 31, 2016 Share #9  Posted December 31, 2016 I know is bigger but i would suggest you  to try the new 50 summilux-SL . I have an SL and a m9 with 50 apo and noctilux f1 but , after my test of the new summilux-sl I have decided to bought the summilux-sl ... is better than the 50apo in my opinion but with a fantastic autofocus. I am going to sell the apo. The noct f1 is too much particular to sell it !! Try the new summilux-SL .. you will be impressed. And thank you to leica store of Bologna to let me try before the summilux-sl !!!
ModernMan Posted January 1, 2017 Share #10 Â Posted January 1, 2017 ... Noctilux wide open and APO for everything else. ... Â Â No truer words. Should be Leica's tagline.
BerndReini Posted January 1, 2017 Share #11  Posted January 1, 2017   Two different applications. Noctilux wide open and APO for everything else. Trade some cash plus Noctilux for 50Apo and Noctilux f1. That's the combo.
turbonetics Posted January 1, 2017 Share #12 Â Posted January 1, 2017 I have both because they are different but if I was to keep one it would be the Noctilux. Â Â Â exactly...no other lens can render that special look of the Noctilux.
MT0227 Posted January 4, 2017 Share #13  Posted January 4, 2017 For some perhaps;  AF is not necessarily a benefit or requirement in certain applications.   On the SL I would probably buy the new 50/1.4SL over both lenses, because it has AF which is a huge benefit, specially for shallow DOF. anickpick Posted January 4, 2017 Share #14 Â Posted January 4, 2017 MF on the SL for shallow DOF is a breeze. Â Imo, AF has to be super snappy, otherwise it's frustrating. Â The 50/1.4 SL seems to have slowish AF, which means it is only good for non-moving subjects...
jrp Posted January 4, 2017 Share #15 Â Posted January 4, 2017 The 50mm AF works well with face detection.
anickpick Posted January 4, 2017 Share #16 Â Posted January 4, 2017 In my experience (with the 90-280), the SL's face detection does not consistently focus on the closest eye. More often it focuses on the nose. This is a problem if you shoot wide open. I have a much higher success rate with single point AF. Â I'd be surprised if face detection works better with the Summilux. Have you tested it thoroughly?
jrp Posted January 4, 2017 Share #17 Â Posted January 4, 2017 I've used it (mainly wide open) and was pleasantly surprised.
