roshuu Posted December 22, 2016 Share #1 Posted December 22, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a question. I bought Voitlanger 40 mm f / 1.4 to filter Leica E43 UV / IR.Do you recommend to enable the Leica M8 menu function "on + uv / ir" or better left to the "off"? Voitlanger of course, is not encoded. I have the impression that the pictures from the "off" are more greenish than with "a + uv / ir." How do you have at home? Does it also affect the sharpness of jpg files is? Advertisement Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Hi roshuu, Take a look here Voigtlander 40 / 1.4 with E43 UV / IR. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted December 23, 2016 Share #2 Posted December 23, 2016 I don't shoot jpegs but with non coded lenses i've always set Lens Detection to off on my M8.2. According to the M8.2 instructions (page 104) « When using aperture priority and manual exposure setting in conjunction with a lens without 6-bit coding, the camera’s identification function must always be turned off, to prevent malfunctions ». Also the Leica UV/IR filters instructions state that « Leica 6-bit coded lenses are necessary for the use of this filter with the Leica M8 ». I would take those warnings with a pinch of salt though as one of my favorite lenses on M8.2 is an uncoded Summilux 35/1.4 v2 on which i use Leica UV/IR filters with no problem at all. But again i don't shoot jpegs so i don't know how the camera behaves in this format.
roshuu Posted December 24, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted December 24, 2016 The image is then greenish, with the function to "on + uv / if" color is better, more natural. I checked.

roshuu Posted January 17, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted January 17, 2017 Does this affect the picture? The original filter Leica UV / IR not tightened completely on the lens Voigtlander 40 / 1.4 or 35 / 1.4. See the picture:
lct Posted January 17, 2017 Share #6 Posted January 17, 2017 If it is the # 13417 (M43 x 0.75) Leica UV/IR filter it should fit the filter thread of the CV 40/1.4 which has also a 0.75 pitch if i'm not mistaken but i have no experience with this combo. Otherwise it could damage the filter thread of the lens but i won't affect the image quality of the lens anyway.
roshuu Posted January 17, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted January 17, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Screwing up badly but sitting and mechanically is ok. I was just wondering whether such a 1-2mm gap has no effect on the image (the impression of blurred images, etc.)
lct Posted January 17, 2017 Share #8 Posted January 17, 2017 I don't think so.
roshuu Posted January 17, 2017 Author Share #9 Posted January 17, 2017 Check it out - the picture is as if shaken but time was 1/180, focal length 40 mm made from a stable position ... It is rather not the fault of the filter?
lct Posted January 17, 2017 Share #10 Posted January 17, 2017 I don't think so. More probably a focusing issue due to focus shift and/or RF misalignment. Just compare with and w/o filter to be sure.
roshuu Posted January 17, 2017 Author Share #11 Posted January 17, 2017 LCT have! I checked DNG and see below. It turned out that .jpg M8 little "treats" details.Image of DNG to the default settings in the Camera Raw is sharp, has a better detail. Too bad, because I wanted to do .jpg straight from the camera ...
