I am guessing it's the wifi to transfer the photos from the negative to the computer ;).

But just curious if anybody knows what's the purpose of that tiny circle there.

I never even thought about it before, but now I need to know!

mistery over...

I found that ...and it seems it's just a hidden screw

"To me the big advantage of the MP compared to older M cameras is the little hole in the top cover, allowing adjustment of the slit with without lifting the cover, even with a film inside. It seems that this feature was introduced with the M6. "

Hmmm...it seems that the "toothpicked" top plate of the BP MP is first all painted in black and then the white paint is added to the engraving.

My a la cart MP is not like that and perhaps its history has something to do with that. I ordered it with classic engraving, and after 4 months it was delivered, but with no engraving whatsoever (on top plate), except on the back "Leica Camera Wetrzlar Made in Germany" engraved but not white paint in it, just black (see photo of the back of the camera).

After I inquired about it, Leica acknowledged the mistake, so I sent it back. 4 months later I received it with the classic engraving. However, unlike the "toothpicked" one, it seems there is no paint underneath the white engraving because very quickly the white paint faded away and brass underneath. In the photos below it may seem white, but it's actually brass. The font is also very thin compared to other classic engraving photos I've seen.

Maybe when I sent it back they simply engraved the already painted top plate and filled the engraving with white paint, instead of having an engraved plate painted black and then fill the engraving with white paint as it seems to be the case with the  "toothpicked" one.

Anyway, maybe it's one of a kind perhaps, it doesn't matter to me, it's just an observation I thought I'd share. I include an older photo of it when the white paint was still in the engraving.

That’s because they took your old top plate and engraved it. They basically engraved a black painted top plate instead of engraving a unpainted top plate and painting it later, as usually done.

Girlfriend: Did you buy a new camera ?!
GC : Yes

Girlfriend: What is the difference between this one and the one you already have ?!
GC: This one is black amor, and the other one is silver.

Hi Arnaud

Yes that’s right :)  The lettering on back is blacked out and the baseplate is all black (including the release fastener)

Almost "right" for discretion 😉.

I don't know why they kept the shiny ring around shutter button, and silver "hot shoe rims".

I had that shiny parts also, when I had BP MP.

I agree, on these 'discreet' a la carte that would've been a nice option to make black .  and the counter dial.  but still very nice !

“ no” , I have to have two: one for black and white and one for colour slides. Naturally, the one for b&w must be stealthy. “

actually I am planning to buy a third one , for colour negatives, but I’m not in a hurry. “

I couldn’t help but compare the rangefinder patch view of my new MP with my M6’s (0.72 TTL and 0.85 M6J).   The view through MP does look to have marginally heightened contrast / will be a little easier to focus.

Looks similar to M10

I haven’t really had any issues with my M6’s in use but just an observation.

...I always wondered about this. Nice to know that, like the shutter release button, it can actually be blacked out. Thanks.
