jplomley Posted July 12, 2012 Share #2704 Posted July 12, 2012 Lovely Martin, as always. Quick question, how many use an accessory rewind crank on their MP? Worth the coin?
azzo Posted July 12, 2012 Share #2705 Posted July 12, 2012 Jeff, Personally, I wouldn't dream of adding one. ...
Sailronin Posted July 12, 2012 Share #2706 Posted July 12, 2012 I have the accessory crank, it is not much better than the knob. If I had it to do over would probably not bother with it. Dave

menos I M6 Posted July 12, 2012 Share #2708 Posted July 12, 2012 I have the accessory crank, it is not much better than the knob. If I had it to do over would probably not bother with it. Dave Second that - using it speeds up the rewind, but nowhere reaches the speed of the angled rewind crank. It feels awkward and puts additional stress on the rewind mechanism (I have tried my share of many second hand MP samples in stores, that had a loose rewind knob clutch, making film slip back during rewind, when letting loose of the rewind knob - most annoying). I bought one, tried it on two rolls and took it off again.
farnz Posted July 12, 2012 Share #2709 Posted July 12, 2012 I use the CameraQuest rewind MP crank and for me it makes a significant difference in reloading time. It can be seen (dimly) in posts 2585 and 2666. Pete.
martin Posted July 12, 2012 Share #2710 Posted July 12, 2012 well, I don't need one it's of course not the fastest way to rewind, but good enough for my use

honcho Posted July 12, 2012 Share #2712 Posted July 12, 2012 well, I don't need one Neither do I, rewinding speed is not relevant for me. It's all about the enjoyment I get from using the thing to make images with. If I miss a shot because I'm in the middle of rewinding, so what! Another one will come along soon enough.

menos I M6 Posted July 13, 2012 Share #2714 Posted July 13, 2012 I am not sure, if you can see the MP in the far background behind one of the two 50mm lenses: Canon 50 f0.95 vs Leitz 5cm f3.5 Elmar - size comparison by teknopunk.com, on Flickr Some recent shots with the humongous Canon 50/.95 can be found here: http://www.teknopunk.com/en/Blog/Entries/2012/7/12_more_Canon_dream_lens_-_shooting_%40_f0.95.html
Keith (M) Posted July 15, 2012 Share #2715 Posted July 15, 2012 Ordered with David Stephens of Manchester in early May, just as we left on a nine-week trip - arrived Friday (13th!) just two days after we returned. Saddle leather and 0.58 finder. Still grinning from ear to ear Just a few more frames to shoot-off to finish the first test film - well, after nine weeks away there were/are many other demands on my time. In the interests of domestic harmony, it might also be wise to put my chrome M4 up for sale... Welcome, dear visitor! Keith (M) Posted July 18, 2012 Share #2716 Posted July 18, 2012 Following on from the above post, needing to run a film through to check shutter speeds and meter accuracy etc despite the eternal UK rain, an indoor subject became necessary. Summaron 35mm f2.8 with HP5+,developed this afternoon in Aculux 3 @ 1+9. A quick and dirty scan (straight .jpg) on my V700. I do believe I can detect a subtly smoother operation of the wind-on lever and a shutter release 'click' rather than a slightly louder 'clack' in comparison with my M7. As a spectacle-wearer, the 0.58 finder certainly makes for easier operation with 28mm and 35mm lenses. All in all, an absolute joy to use (and fondle!). Still have to get around to selling the M4 though... Welcome, dear visitor!
