NB23 Posted July 25, 2011 Share #2301 Posted July 25, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) ...Ned, is the shutter dial of the Millenium orientated in the same direction as the original M6 (and the MP), or does it do the M6 TTL "thing"? And re: brass eyelets, is this a Leica M first? Any idea why Leica went for a softer metal for the eyelets? The brass eyelets aren't a Leica first. They were the norm on BP M3 bodies, for example. They were from Brass because it can easily be painted as opposed to other metals. The MP shows several cost-cutting features. The backdoor, the eyelets and frame counter are all shared with the M7 production (which is fine) but they don't quite belong on a BP camera per se: chrome parts simply don't belong. Just look at a well used BP M4 and tell me how the silvered speed dial and film rewind know look funny on a brassed body. I find it quite cheap looking and quite a faux-pas! In that regard, one easily realizes that the M6 LHSA and Millennium have had more thought and love into them. Still, if I had to choose between my MP and my Millennium, I would probably go for the MP simply because of it's smaller size. It's crazy how bigger the camera feels for just two extra Millimeters in height! Ok... Back on topic. I shall post a picture of my MP in the next few days. One is a regular silver chrome and the other is an early à la carte BP model (they both feature the "old school" DIN/ISO film speed selector). The BP's top-plate, film advance lever, shutter speed dial and rewind knob are *all* brassing nicely. Incidentally, the silver chrome, which is the older of the two bodies, is not yet showing its age - pretty much like my trusty silver chrome M6. Guest AlexaVega Posted August 18, 2011 Share #2309 Posted August 18, 2011 Frankly speaking everyone has their own choice. I agree that there is plenty of cameras available in market but some people need the same and love t he same years after years.

Paulus Posted August 20, 2011 Share #2311 Posted August 20, 2011 Exactly what I mean. The M9P compared to the real MP shows the difference between the two. But I must say. When you don't wear them together, I doubt if anyone, who wasn't a connaisseur , would notice the difference, from a distance. Still... it's a wonderful sight. Congratulations with you purchase. I do hope you have lenses
