Thanks for the notification.

Does anyone know what "Changed exp. limitation in combination with 6bit coded M-lenses" refers to?

Thanks.  Guy

I don't know what they mean yet, Guy, but I intend to explore that one as soon as I have a moment to install the fw update.

I can think of several potential "exposure limitations" with manual lenses that could stand improvement.

It looks like we still can't adjust the EVF brightness.

Such a shame as the camera is so good, but it is so hard to see outdoors in a bright Australian summer.

I have had the camera a year now, and tried to return the camera based on that I thought mine was faulty.

For such a big investment, it really shouldn't have been this painful.

I only bought the SL to escape a few long term bugs with the T. Now I have a serious long term issue with the SL that ruins my enjoyment of the camera every time I use it...

(I haven't installed it yet)

...and the file numbering continues to be reset to S1000001 after FW update  .

Since the file numbering syntax is in the form "Axxxyyyy", where

"A" can be any letter set in the menu "SETUP/Edit File Name",

"xxx" are the digits set by the camera forming folders named "A000", "A001", etc., and

"yyyy" is the file numbering set by the camera,

one can - for instance - change the letter "A" after FW update, or one can get to an unused folder via continued activation of the menu "SETUP/Reset Image Numbering" that, contrary to the wording, increases the folder numbering "xxx" by 1 (say from "A001" to "A002").

So there are several ways to ensure unique numbering of the file names after FW update (but this is something that the FW-update could/should take care of, many/me thinks...).

Exactly the same reason why I decided mine had to go, though this was in the bright light of Cumbria in NW England!

At least with the Novoflex EOS-SL adaptor the Exif data with several Canon and Zeiss lenses is still not working correctly.

So we have to wait for a bugfix from Novoflex.

Or simply put the SD card on which the most recent picture is stored and take a picture of anything - the number sequence is restored to where it was previously.

Tried it twice with previous updates, never worked :-(

I have updated to 2.2 and successfully keep the file number sequence by following exact steps as the installation instruction:

1. format the SD card in camera

2. Copy the firmware 2.2 to root directory of SD card

3. Put the SD card back to camera and perform firmware update

4. When asked "save user profile?" Select "yes"

5. Turn-off the camera when update completed.

6. Turn on the camera

I didn't even bother to format the card. It had a hundred images on it. My numbering is still in tact and I didn't even have to reload my profiles, although I did save them as part of the install process. Everthing was where I left it.

Gordon

weird ...... this was reported with the last firmware update as well......

some people manage to retain their file sequence with doing (apparently) nothing

some manage to circumvent it by re-formatting the card or putting an old file back in ...... allegedly

and some always lose their file sequence no matter what they do.

I can't make any sense of this at all........

I am traveling, currently in New Orleans with my SL & M. I don't want to upgrade the firmware until I return, to be safe. But, I am dying to know what changes there are from anyone who has FW 2.2 installed.

What is the M manual lens exposure fix? And is one of the "several minor bug fixes" the issue of exp compensation affecting manual exposure metering?

Thanks!

Yes, it is indeed strange.

I formatted the card in the camera. Copied new firmware, made a back up of old firmware, installed the new firmware, restarted the camera. File numbering was a continuation from previous file. And, all profiles, etc intact. Although I have yet to figure out / experience the benefits from this update.

Gordon, maybe you perform some magic you're not even aware of LOL

I will try yet again for the third time with 2.2 and I bet it will reset my numbering to 000001 yet again.
