Arizonahooligan Posted November 22, 2016 Share #1 Posted November 22, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) So cal me crazy but I have never had the need to size down my photographs to upload them to a forum. I've sized images in Photoshop for project submissions at school but that was typically just a conversion from tif to jpeg and then my instructor's format for photograph print size. What is the most efficient way to size/convert to the 500kb size requirement? I wanted to upload some of my first images from the Q in hopes of gaining valuable insight from the good people of the forum. For better or for worse, lol. SonomaBear Posted November 22, 2016 Share #4 Posted November 22, 2016 I use LR CC to create image copies for the forum. Use the "Export" function. Export to file with the size limited to 500k. Create a folder to receive the export image for uploading. You can then save the preset for further use. This preset is handy for other sites as well. Thank you in advance for you assistance in this matter. What software are you using? In Lightroom just set the parameters in the export dialog. In Photoshop (Both full and Elements) use the "Save for the Web" dialog, ignoring any warnings about file size - it will work nevertheless. There is reason for this. The resizing algorithms used by forum software are, in general, far inferior to the ones provided by editing programs. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

pico Posted July 10, 2017 Share #9 Posted July 10, 2017 Photoshop's Save for Web includes the option to size according to pixels. Use the long dimension. I usually use 800 to 900px for the horizontal. There is also an option to view the outcome in a browser, then save or not.
