SrdjanS Posted November 15, 2016 Share #1 Posted November 15, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone... yes I know it's Leica and they are the ones that can go to hell and back (I use/love them too), but... I am going on a trip and weather forecast says humidity between very high and stupidly high and M7 is the one with most electronics inside of all Leicas (digital aside). If it was one of fully mechanical ones I wouldn't even blink but... this made me think a bit. Any experience here?
Advertisement Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Hi SrdjanS, Take a look here M7 and (very) high humidity. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ktmrider2 Posted November 15, 2016 Share #2 Posted November 15, 2016 Not with the M7 specifically but I was in Central America a few years ago with an M4 and the high humidity caused the vulcanite to come off in chunks. Now the M4 is quite a bit older the the M7 so it may not be a problem for you at all. I suspect the M7 would work fine as I have traveled recently in SE Asia and the Philippines with the M9 and did not have any problem. And the M9 certainly has more electronics then the M7. MarkP Posted November 15, 2016 Share #3 Posted November 15, 2016 I've used my M7 over the last few years for summer holidays in Queensland (Australia). Hot and 'stupidly high' humidity and heavy rain. No problems whatsoever (actually none with the M240 and Monochrome v1 in the same conditions). Just use it. SrdjanS Posted November 15, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted November 15, 2016 Thanks for quick replies. I don't know why, but since I have both M6TTL and M7 I always thought of M7 as fragile one. M6 is in the workshop (minor repair and CLA) so I have to travel with M7. Well... in the bag it goes.
250swb Posted November 16, 2016 Share #5 Posted November 16, 2016 You'll be happy to know the M7 isn't covered in vulcanite, so you can rule out that worry. I think the main problem won't be for the electronics but the camera steaming up, so keep it in fresh air as much as possible and have some silica gel in your camera bag. kivis Posted November 16, 2016 Share #6 Posted November 16, 2016 Thanks for quick replies. I don't know why, but since I have both M6TTL and M7 I always thought of M7 as fragile one. M6 is in the workshop (minor repair and CLA) so I have to travel with M7. Well... in the bag it goes. I also always thought my M7 was fragile so I sold for an MP. But it was really just in my head. The M7 was awesome and reliable.
