Advertisement Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Hi lct, Take a look here Leica M 10. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Peter H Posted January 12, 2017 Share #1422 Posted January 12, 2017 Admittedly we don't really know anything about the camera yet, but as things stand I can't remember ever feeling less enthused about a new M. At the moment it feels more like a mild mid-run facelift than a genuine new model, don't you think? OK, but not exciting in any way. Perhaps that's how it should be. cirke Posted January 12, 2017 Share #1423 Posted January 12, 2017 I am looking forward to hear from Jono on day 1 Day -1 for me :-) I am looking daily to Jono's blog and Facebook , But he would not even talk under torture :-)
Distagon Posted January 12, 2017 Share #1424 Posted January 12, 2017 No continuous??? There appears to be a "Drive Mode" selection in the menu, so perhaps Continuous shooting is buried in a menu now. On the other hand, there also appears to be capacity to customise a "Favourites" menu as the first page so it won't be buried too deep if you need it. (Or perhaps "Favourites" is actually an automated selection of most recently used functions. I guess we'll find out soon.)

[...] Same feeling i had with the M4-2 more or less. Was the first M with a motor winder though. I wonder if the M10 will be first at something but it could be the best digital rangefinder ever made if it is simply faster and cleaner at 3200 & 6400 isos. Easy to achieve, others did it already. If you own theory is correct and there are two distinct lines in the future M family, then we may not have seen all that will be announced. As others have mentioned, we are seeing the marketing assault getting into gear and a much higher spec M may be the "one more thing".

I'm still inclined to believe there will be two distinct M lines, aside from the satellite variants. But I wouldn't expect them to be announced simultaneously. That really isn't the Leica way. Expect to wait another year at the very least.

To me the M10 looks like the next M9 RF-film-like body I hope and believe that the next M240 is on the way too
anickpick Posted January 12, 2017 Share #1432 Posted January 12, 2017 Why? All the leaked pictures and the (I admit rumored) specs of the M10 are too close to the M240. About the sensor: Leica did it with the T / TL. They might very well do it again with the M240 / M10. I certainly do not hope so, but I think it is quite likely. I think we will have to wait for the next "real" update of the M for another year.

lct Posted January 12, 2017 Share #1434 Posted January 12, 2017 Hard to believe that the 'M10' could use anything lesser than the Q's sensor. M240 is passé now.

UliWer Posted January 12, 2017 Share #1437 Posted January 12, 2017 When something new is coming, it's not clever to say it makes much difference to what is already there. Prices on the secondhand market will be lower. For the same reason things already on the market, become much better after the successor arrived. CYBORA Posted January 12, 2017 Share #1438 Posted January 12, 2017 I would be very happy if the M10 featured the SL sensor. However, I actually believe the M10 will feature the M240 sensor. It would be a suicide for M after around 4.5 years.
Agent M10 Posted January 12, 2017 Share #1439 Posted January 12, 2017 Hard to believe that the 'M10' could use anything lesser than the Q's sensor. M240 is passé now. Maybe I'm missing something, but seems to me that sensor technology has pretty much leveled off. Look at the new X1D and Fuji GFX, both are using what some call older technology. Gone are the days of "Wow, what a step up! I can't wait to get my hands on that new model with those out-of-this-world DxO specs." The way forward looks like incremental changes, things like ISO wheels and button architecture. I recently bought an M-D because I really don't see all that much improvement over the M240 sensor in the near future.
keithlaban.co.uk Posted January 12, 2017 Share #1440 Posted January 12, 2017 All the leaked images are red herrings orchestrated by Leica to confuse the proletariat and to protect the announcement and identity of the new camera.
