Lucena Posted October 22, 2016 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) This topic is for posting pictures taken in bad light conditions, without flash or any additional light, using only ISO 50.000. My example was taken in almost full darkness...the only light came from a little door behind me, and it was almost end of the day, it was raining outside. Welcome, dear visitor! SonomaBear Posted October 24, 2016 Share #7 Posted October 24, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) as you know, I love night photography but rarely go that high (tripod with 8~10 secs works for me) -- BUT 50,000 would allow me to handhold most images. I hereby accept the challenge!

ropo54 Posted October 24, 2016 Share #9 Posted October 24, 2016 Lucena: Handheld. No lighting in the room. Perhaps some ambient light from the room behind me. I obviously had much less success than you at iso 50,000! Impressive, nonetheless. Rob Welcome, dear visitor! Digitom Posted October 25, 2016 Share #11 Posted October 25, 2016 Hey folks, we talk about ISO 50ooo ! What can we expect? What I see here impresses me. Very good camera, really. It is an extreme and shows what is possible. Think back in Film times - no chance anyway without flash.
SonomaBear Posted October 25, 2016 Share #12 Posted October 25, 2016 Hello Xata... Two experiments last night. First is indoor at ISO 50,000 @ 1.7 @ 1/2000. AF, handheld, noisy but unretouched. And yes, meu caro professor, the Q is magnificent just like the Champagne! Second is outdoor @ ISO 50,000 @ 1.7 @ 1/15, AF, handheld, noisy yet unretouched. No moon, no outdoor lights other than neighbor's lights, some light filtering out of our darkened home. Wanted to upload last night but the images are too large and LR Mobile does not downsize like LR Mac. Welcome, dear visitor! Lucena Posted October 25, 2016 Author Share #14 Posted October 25, 2016 Well, Ropo and SonomaBear, the results are great, we have to look at that as something that would be normaly impossible, as Digitom says so well! I have to give it a try with a tripod, maybe next weekend, we are having the first rain in six months and the falls are quite violent, with wind... so I will wait for outside, maybe I will give it a try inside! It is good to realize that in case of need to keep a memory or whatever in bad conditions of light or no light at all the Q allows it...

I agree: it is quite amazing to get these kind of results in pitch black lighting. Thank you for "showing us the light"! Rob
Leica Guy Posted October 26, 2016 Share #16 Posted October 26, 2016 From the balcony of our condo at the beach. ISO 50,000. It's grainy and banded, but still pretty amazing. Welcome, dear visitor! Sulis Posted November 3, 2016 Share #19 Posted November 3, 2016 Having just been lucky enough to be able to get a Q I would be very interested in any tips you all might have in getting decent results in low light. I have found a lot of banding noise even at 6400 (and sometimes well below that) when shooting in low light. 50,000 is completely useless in low light for me - worse than ropo54's example above. Running the images through the remove banding option in Nik Define 2 does help, but in many cases it still interferes with the image (to my eyes). Yes, I did check that the firmware was up to date. I have tried with and without OIS – I don't see any difference between them on the images, and at least OIS allows me to use a slower shutter and therefore a lower ISO... So any pointers on how to get better results would be great! Thanks.
