This topic is for posting pictures taken in bad light conditions, without flash or any additional light, using only ISO 50.000. My example was taken in almost full darkness...the only light came from

When walking in the darkness of a ½ moon, I noticed the moon shadows.   Took the dogs inside, grabbed the Q, set to ISO 50,000, f1.7, then leaned up against a mailbox

Good stuff Lucena.  It's fascinating to see what the sensors can do.  I've got nothing to do with  the Q, but have a friend or two (on the forum) who love theirs.

Personally I'm going from the M8 to an M-P, and finding a huge jump in everything...including ISO..

If I had more space I'd buy a Q too...but my camera collection has got to the stage where everyone says..."Another one Dave ?".

Keep it up, cheers and regards...

Took the dogs inside, grabbed the Q, set to ISO 50,000, f1.7, then leaned up against a mailbox to expose at ¼ second with exposure comp +2 stops.

No post processing done.

Last night coming back from a concert I tried this...

Lucena, this is a great example of using the 28mm perspective adding depth. It also shows the low light capacities.

I shall experiment tonight with white balance in moonlight. And I'll experiment with 50,000 ISO banding. Your image is an example of minimal banding, some of mine look like corduroy cloth!

this is with diafine 2 in automatic mode

Hello Xata...   Two experiments last night.

First is indoor at ISO 50,000 @ 1.7 @ 1/2000. AF, handheld, noisy but unretouched.  And yes, meu caro professor, the Q is magnificent just like the Champagne!

Second is outdoor @ ISO 50,000 @ 1.7 @ 1/15, AF, handheld, noisy yet unretouched.  No moon, no outdoor lights other than neighbor's lights, some light filtering out of our darkened home.

Wanted to upload last night but the images are too large and LR Mobile does not downsize like LR Mac.

Lucena, I must compliment you on a great idea for a thread.

My wife collects antique hyacinth vases. Below is a vintage 1850s hyacinth vase made in the UK by GP Tye out of uranium glass. Under UV light it glows. It is perfectly safe but because of the health risks in the manufacture it is no longer made. The pattern is gilded but as it is backlit this doesn't show. Processed in LR6 and NIK Dfine.

Maybe someone with an A7S or A7SII and a Q can post a few ISO 50000 shots … using the same subjects and preferably for the A7S with an FE 28mm lens … and thus compare the two cameras' low light high ISO capabilities?

dunk

I dont have the A7s, used to have the Nikon DF, and have many pictures with iso over 10k, (no 50k ones), but on thing is for sure, the DF smoked the Q. No competition. Q files under high iso loose completely the dynamic range, they look dull, the DF still could be pushed under lightroom. Not sure if i can post the images here since this is a leica forum, but if its allowed i can post some Nikon DF images....

There was plenty of light to shoot at ISO 350 but here's one ooc at 50,000 and I think the grainy effect on the stone may be appropriate?

Snowman - Handheld, night ambient light. DNG in LR CC, about 30 seconds of adjustments, yes on noise reduction, slight color noise reduction, minor curve. I'm a little new to Lecia world. The Q seems to take basic LR noise reduction at iso50000 pretty well. Gets a little soft due to the noise reduction & perhaps not a hang-on-the-wall pic, but useable in a pinch.

Leica Q f5.6, 1/200, iso50000

Dog - The dog would have been better stopped down a bit I think. But again, useable.
