I bought a type 3 mfg in Germany from 1969-1979. Lens is very sharp on my M8, not sure I like the loooong focus throw bur I do like the results.

I was thinking to 6 bit code the lens by hand using one of the templates I have found online or buy a 6 bit flange from China.

The problem I see is two fold, the rear flange only has 5 screws (it seems most have 6) and one of the screws is right in the middle of where the code would be painted?

Anyone know how to solve this? I have seen this lens listed as one that Leica will code for you.

Summicron 50/2 v3 (11817) is indeed codable by Leica but its flange is thicker than those of later versions so i don't know if replacement codable flanges can be found in China or elsewhere sorry.

If you Dremel and code yourself yo can paint over the screw, if Leica codes it they will use a flange on which the screw is skipped.
