I echo what has been articulated so well in the praises above.

The Challenge registration and dinner collection at the same moment is an idea to share with Andy at HQ if it helped things for you.

Since we just discussed optimization methods yesterday, there might be still ways to improve the process, even after more than ten Challenges.

Strange situation, I'm sitting in a café, lots of joggers passing by, it is raining, but personally I'm warm and dry...

Anyhow, some pictures from yesterday -

At the risk of being repetitive...

I'd like to add my thanks to you, John for the effort you put in to making this such a great success. Bec and I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner, meeting new folk and the warm, convivial mood around the table. Can't wait to see the shots that came out of the competition!

Let's do this again soon! And MEL shooters, perhaps we could have a coffee/beer occasionally to stay in touch outside of these challenges?

Being my first challenge I was unsure what to expect except I feared being surrounded by a group of curmudgeons. I am pleased to have been proved incontrovertibly wrong.

Sue and I had a wonderful time meeting everyone (well, almost everyone) and thank you all sincerely for making us feel so welcome. To those who came from afar, at least you'll have had a little taste of what Melbourne can deliver weather-wise!

And we'd like to endorse what everyone has said to John and Melanie for, firstly, your wonderful organization and mainly, for being such lovely people.

So, all you Ozzies, what're the chances of this Australasian Challenge spawning, say, a yearly Australian Challenge in a different Australian venue each year? You've done Melbourne so where's next? Adelaide? Sydney? Canb ... I mean Perth? :)

Looks like everyone had a great time.

Now that's a really good idea. My daughter's 21st is two and a half years away so I'll be right for the next one.

Ok. In the D76 1+1 for 8mins with 10sec inversion every min.

This SD card sure does rattle a lot in the dev tank.:-)

Agreed. An annual or even biennial event would be doable given the great turnout this time round.

We could also include Mawson for a real challenge.;-)

Looks great fun, I'm so sorry I couldn't make it this time, just a bit much on for me right now this side of the Tasman. Definitely next time! Really looking forward to seeing all the terrific pics. No doubt the sense of pictorial appreciation will be sharpened by liberal quantities of fine Aussie wine...

I like your thinking Pete. do we even have any members in Perth? Would definitely go for Sydney, Adelaide, Brisvegas!

Thank you guys and gals! Such wonderful accolades from you all really makes all the stress and terror of organizing and fretting so worthwhile. I must specially acknowledge the contribution of Melanie as she was a great force and support in detailed organization of things like collecting money, recording entry details and doing al the numbers at which I am no good.

I can't say how much just seeing the pleasure on so many faces rewarded my anxieties of disaster, failure, etc made me and Melanie taste the pleasures you all obviously enjoyed.

As a customer of Camera Clinic for more than 50+ years and knowing Laurie (the founder) all that time, to experience his son Wayne deliver such an inspiring presentation of their business profile, I was impressed, as must Leica be also.

To all who travelled to enjoy the Australasian One Challenge, I thank you for making it such a success and declare all who participated to be winners! Now you have about one month to travel home, process your images and submit them to me for posting for voting to determine the official winner. More details on where and how to post, but right now I am furiously preparing for an outback trek and photo safari. Post Easter I will be back on line and anxious to receive your submissions for both the Day and Night Challenges. Good luck to you all.

A great big thank you to John & Melanie for putting together such a relaxed and fun event for us all ( and making it look easy )  :D

We really enjoyed meeting up with everyone  - i like the idea of the locals getting together for a coffee ( and a "mini challenge" ) now and again.

Good luck to all the Challenge participants and safe trips home to all those who came from far away   :D

It really is a lift to the spirits when you spend time with like minded people pursuing a hobby or collective purpose, the camaraderie and enthusiasm that everyone shows is invigorating.

A huge thank you to John and Melanie on the day and the weeks of work leading up to the weekend.

It was great to meet everyone (that we could), so good of the overseas and interstate members to go to the expense and effort, thank you all.

Great idea for some form of yearly and for the Melburnians a more regular get together and challenges.

All in all a great adventure and best wishes to all.

John
