My 'carry about' lenses differ and I don't limit to f/2.8 either way: 21/3.4 SE, 35/1.4 pre-FLE and 90/2.8E-M which theoretically weigh 940g. But this doesn't include filter/finders and of course adding a body (or 2), a charger and lead, plus batteries(6), cards, cases, etc soon bumps weight up. Nevertheless, a 3~4Kg outfit is still very carriable and way below what my dSLRs would weigh in at.

For low weight the 21SE (which appears to be very marginally lighter than the 21/2.8 you illustrate) and 35/90 Summarit lenses would work out at 823g which is not bad but the older lenses were certainly built for minimal weight and are hard to match. Its the longer lens which bumps up the weight of course - Leica should probably note this and build a lightweight version again.

CV 21/4 (160g) + ZM 35/2.8 (200g) + M-E 90/4 (240g) = 576g w/o caps at sea level.

Bit slower but i don't cheat :D.

Did you actually weigh them? I suspect they'd be less of you did. My 21 SA weighs in at 260g (290g with hood caps and a filter), where the wiki lists it at 301g for example.

I just referred to the specs. According to my Leitz catalogue from 1976, the Super-Angulon 21/3.4 # 11103 doesn't weigh 260 or 301g but 300g. I suspect that your SA is a 21/4 or an earlier 21/3.4 than mine (1977) but i may be wrong.

Measured on my scale:

grams    lb    FL    Lens
------------------------------
173    0.38    15mm CV ASPH

313    0.69    28mm cron ASPH

272    0.6    90mm Macro-Elmar-m
-----
758g      1.67 SUB

68    0.15    Extra lens pouch X 2 (one lens on camera, two in pouch)
-----
826g  SUB

816    1.8    M240 (1.5lb) + velcro pouch + extra battery
-----
1642g      3.6  TOTAL

Note that this weight is not very far off from a DSLR with mid-range zoom lens. But the advantage of M is that I don't have to carry all. Mostly I go out with just M+28 and it weighs just above 1kg.

I have those same version lenses.  The 35 and 90 are part of my travel kit, but the 21 I carry with is the M-version CV f/4, as it is light and accepts the same 39mm filters.  The saving in weight and volume lets me choose a CV 15 V1 LTM or the tabbed 50 Summicron if I feel it may be needed.  When I carry the Elmarit nowadays I typically also carry my E55 90 Summicron pre-ASPH, sometimes with the 35/2 (as I no longer have the 1.4) or a 50 Summilux, specifically when I feel the extra speed will be needed for a large percentage of shooting.

Indeed because current Ms are not that compact anymore compared to modern mirrorless cameras. Adding my A7s mod to the three small lenses above make a total of 576g (lenses) + 489g (full camera) + 36g (Novoflex adapter) = 1101g.
