Hello all,

Any tips or guidance to track down the allusive 12466 shade? I have been keeping my eye out on eBay for a couple of years but haven't had any luck so far.

I noticed I missed one pop up in early August but unfortunately didn't see it.

Anywhere else to look?

Thanks for the help!

Thanks IWC, I didn't realize you could do that on eBay. I should have thought to check. I actually use the bay a lot so it is silly that I haven't explored that option.

lct - I am checking as we speak. Thanks!

I am assuming because this is a Leica product that it works well on the 28 Cron. Do you have that experience? Does it lock firmly?

I should have asked prior but I just assume all Leica products work well :  )

Thanks for the coffee! Don't worry about your 12466 hood. Fits nicely on the 28/2 v1. Only con is it gets somewhat in the way when rotating the aperture ring but you might find it perfect for your fingers. Otherwise the hood is so difficult to find that it will be easy to sell anyway.

lct & IWC,

I looked at both your links/pictures and love the look of the vented metal hood on the 28 Summicron. It looks so much better and I am glad I splurged.

I feel awkward writing to people using their usernames but such is forum life!

Hi again,

I received the hood and it is in mint condition with the box and looks great on the Cron.

Quick question though, are there any markings on your copies of the lens hood? I cannot locate a serial number, Leica name, anything on the hood.

Just want to be sure I didn't pay $350.00 for a fake.

Thank you for your help!

i was just in a camera shop today in Cambridge, UK, opposite to King's College & they have a second hand 28cron hood. the condition is about 80-90% new. no cap. Campkins Cameras. it was in a box of old filters, etc. they have a website with a contact. not sure about the cost.

I don't have it with me but i don't recall having seen any engravements or writings on it. Couple of pics below to recognize it if needed:

The only markings are the white paint filled index dot up top and the not filled thin LEICA engraving at the bottom.

The only lenses it fits are the 35/1.4 Summilux ASPH and the 28/2 Summicron ASPH v1

... and the Elmarit 28/2.8 v4.
