As posted in the german part of this forum (without reply, desverre) I experienced some trouble with my m7: electricity and thereby the whole camera stopped to work. When you say Leica couldn't find a problem, do you mean they have serviced the camera and its working/couldn't find any fault when you sent it to them? I think it has something to do with wind, moisture and cold (+10° Celsius). But I think a Leica should work under these conditions, otherwise I don't need a camera. It has happened several times befor this "blackout" that the batteries run very (imho) quick out of gas and had to be replaced. So another explanation might be some drainage inside the camera. But I wonder why the CS didn't find it. They put the camera in a special chamber to simulate these conditions and didn't find anything. If not, do you store it in a bag where the shutter release might be activated by pressing against something? That would cause a pre-mature battery drain. Unfortunately, your query is rather difficult to answer; kind of like coming to a doctor and telling him "my body hurts sometimes, but I don't know where, can you tell me what is wrong with me"? Went to Solms after a few weeks for the DX contacts and because the LEDs begun to flicker and failed (no power). A few month later I dropped it on the floor. Back to Solms she went. 500€ going down the drain. Now I used the camera outdoors, 10°C+, little breeze. LEDs flicker and fail (no power). Tried several packs of new batteries. Didn't help. Went indoors again: camera worked. Cursed. Sent her to Solms. No mistake. Got new MP cause I don't need a camera I can't work with outdoors. BTW.: 4 of my 6 brandnew lenses were at least once in Solms. Right now the 1,4/50 Asph is there and the 2/90Apo Asph is still on the way to Solms. Now I know why Leica has a reputation for longevity: If not they would have no chance to repair them.
