28 Summicron new hood

I believe the first lens to have that setup was the WATE. No trim ring to cover the threads if you took the hood off. I quizzed Leica at the time and the reason they didn't include a trim ring was the fron element protruded past the fron of the barrel and they didn't want it subject to damage.

12466 is larger than 12588  or 12589 hoods though. Also it sits very close to 28/2 v1's aperture ring and gets somewhat in the way when rotating the later. It is not vastly superior to the 12589 from this viewpoint whilst the latter is significantly smaller, cheaper and easier to find out. The 12588 remains my favorite hood on 28/2 v1 thanks to the lack of locking ring getting in the way as well but it is difficult to find out and tends to drop more easily due to the lack of locking ring that has been added later on for the 12589.
